These plays calls are predictable. Two weeks in a row we go 3 and outs. We never seem to threaten the defense ever. I can assure you it is not our players talent level or effort. I'm sick of being predictable. I'm sick of plays being called for 4 yards when we need 16. If we called the exact same plays of Indiana at the same time we could be just as good. Period.

1st & 10 IU puts 8 in the box and we run it up the gut. Then 2&11 they back out and we throw it. Is there absolutely no checking at the line in this offense?

I must watch the film before I can form an opinion.

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I like DH. But man, you have nothing to lose and this is the best offense we have?? Nice job john. 3rd 24 and you throw a 5 yard screen play. Stop blaming the plays the players don't make and start blaming yourself be the offense game plan / identity is not there. This is TERRIBLE. If you were great before w the Bears in Carolina etc... Okay fine. Not the case. Predictable. We never run a hurry up offense like you said we would. Never run slants across the middle like every single team does against us. It's high percentage play. We don't. Up the middle. 15 yard pass that's 3 yards down field. I'm fed up. Take responsibility js.

Hey John. That fumble by jones. On you. I know you keep running when it works, but after the 10th time do something a little different. I refuse to blame the players after an entire season.

Now we sit and play the waiting game untill Shoop gets fired. If NOTHING is done NOTHING will change and that will show Morgan has no BALLS to fire someone.

Nothing will matter at this point unless a change is made at the top. You aren't going to get a respectable ANYTHING to come in and coach under a COMPLETELY lame duck coach. This is why you do not wait until year FOUR to change your staff, you change it after year 1 or at the very least, year 2.

Would you go work for Hazell right now if you were remotely good at your job? Uh, no.

Haha I knew lbodel would be in to say ANYTHING he could to passive aggressively defend shoop. Nothing will change till Burke goes so therefore let's not advocate the obvious

You're a moron if you think it's remotely "defending" Shoop. I've been saying the entire staff needs to be gutted before the season started. I have stated multiple times Shoop should have been canned after year 1.

The point is that you can fire ANY coach right now and the replacement you get will be no where remotely qualified for the job. So thinking that will solve anything is dumb. The problem is at the top at this point. You aren't going to fix this program by changing 1 assistant right now - no matter who it is. We ARE TERRIBLE at every facet of the game of football.

Totally agree but if someone is to get fired Shoop better be first. He's coached us out of every close game we've had a chance at since he's got here. Our D isn't that good but it doesn't help they are on the field all the time cause the O can't move the ball. He's the 3 and out King!

I mean, look, our team in general is bad in every facet of the game - offense, defense, special teams. Nearly every stat in the books back it up. And while we certainly haven't had great time of possession, I again think people are not quite living in reality. Against Illinois, we were losing 27-7 at halftime. Possession time...15:01 to 14:59. Against Iowa, we actually held overall possession time by 6 minutes. So yes, did our offense help out our defense all the time and they blew it? No. But there's also not much evidence of our defense doing great until they were worn out because of possession time. My POINT is not to defend Shoop, my POINT is that our defense blows and to make excuses for it is dumb.

In general, to look for blame on why this or that was not good - is just misleading yourself. If we had a ball-control offense that won the possession time every game, our defense would still not be good. If we had one of the best defenses in the Big Ten, our offense would still not be good enough to win many games.

The overall point is we have a very bad football team overall. There's just not one reason this or that is bad. We're bad in every facet, our coaching is not good in every facet. Our recruiting by these individual coaches is bad. Thus - you can fire this person or that person, but the problem is at the top. That's my overall point.

Agreed - we are at or near the bottom of nearly every BigTen stat.

But in one area we are worse than the rest...

You are really a bright guy. I respect your opinion. What do you think we need to do? I think Burke and Hazell need to go. But that won't happen. Is there anything that we can do that would help us improve next season?

I mean, my answer is Hazell needs to go. I'm rather indifferent on Burke at the moment - a good coach is more powerful than their athletic director (see Matt Painter pantsing Burke).

So if we get some new coordinator - offensive and/or defensive - and we see slight improvement - does that earn Hazell an extension?

I think Purdue's putting itself in a sticky situation if they keep him. Obviously the thought is we can't afford the buyout and that's literally the reason he's coming back. So the thought is we don't really want him, but are stuck with him. But publicly you're saying you are seeing progress and are looking for progress So if we go out and win 4-5 games next year, are you going to fire him then? Or is it going to turn into another well, we see progress.

Basically, if i was MB, I would have been doing everything in my power this fall to figure out a way to make a coaching change happen at the end of the year.

I hear you on that. Clearly he didn't try to do anything to fix the situation. Maybe Morgan really believes in him?

Well, there's a lot we don't know (which Purdue is lucky they have little media coverage - you don't ever hear about anything). We don't know if Burke tried and failed - whether money, the President, etc. was the hang up. One thing I can tell you with certainty is the lack of revenues is really killing the athletic department. We also don't really know what the plan is for Burke. He's not going to be fired - plain and simple.

I can tell you that they (AD & President) has gotten some serious heat this season from alumni. The announcement of the football facility when it was made was absolutely no coincidence.

Very interesting, thank you. I hate how reactionary Purdue is. I also would prefer the $60 million facility in the South Endzone like other places but it is what it is.
