Saturday's Line

As I type we are a six point dog for Saturday's game vs Cinn!

I plan on being there in person for this one!

GhostofFatJack - I have a couple observations from the EKU game and wondering if at all valid...

1. Blough seemed to have happy feet and would often throw off his back foot when unncessary. In my non-football mind I could usually tell if it was going to be a good throw or not simply based on watching that fact. When he planted his feet and then threw....nice passes! You see this as an issue?

2. Dangelo Yancey has the curse of appearing not to try hard. The PI call in the endzone was a joke (to me) as the only contact was Yancey trying to get separation by using one arm to hold the DB while trying to catch with the other. I also blame the interception on Yancey and not Blough as I felt the DB just wanted the ball more. Finally, I would like to see some separation when running routes.

Boiler up...and looking forward to pounding Cincy!

I would agree with both of your observations...first one can be fixed, since this is year three of Yancey, we have what we have!

Agree with your #1 but would point out that Blough needs to throw the out to the sideline and not in where the db can make a play on it. Yes Yancey should have done more to keep from having a pic but the ball was not well thrown. Blough is a long way from a top notch FBS qb unfortunately.

We are the underdog which for this team, is good. It to better to be hunter than the hunted.

Purdue under Hazell is 5-1 as the Favorite and 2-29 as the Underdog. This hunter has a sling shot, and the hunted is a 600 lb grizzly bear.

Sure, but the bear is too blind to throw it straight and has no fingers to hold on to the ball.

Perhaps. But we have healed our share of blind, non-dexterous bears the past three years. With nearly a touchdown spread I'd rather be the favorite. Always.

The weakness of Cincinnati is being overplayed based on one bad half. They are coming off 5 consecutive winning seasons and 9 of the past 10. They also have a solid, veteran coach, and despite the obvious rust to start week 1, played better as the game went on. If this game was played last week they would have been a 2+ TD favorite.

Tuberville isn't exactly being seen in the best light recently. Mostly because of his decision to replace Kiel with Moore, the 5 TD shellacking by SDSU in the Hawaii bowl, and struggling for 3 quarters against FCS UTM who isn't picked to challenge their conference.

That bring said, I don't think the line it's an indication of how bad they are but instead a representation of how people are unsure about how good their team really is. Obviously, people see Purdue as Purdue, ie a bad team for years. So, they pick Cincy by a score because they don't really know how it will turn out but still think Cincy will win.
