Sasha signs with Spurs

Not that much smaller than Duncan Robinson and ended up in a really good defense oriented system. Would love to see him surprise everyone and stick in the league as 3 pt shooting specialist. Gotta be able not to be a big liability on defense but Robinson found a starting role almost exclusively shooting 3s. Sasha has a chance.

Redshirting paid off it looks like 👍 ;)

Uh-oh........

they all got summer camp invites. the Bucks gave out some summer camp invites too. it's an opportunity for scouts to see them play. Playing in the G league, D league and Euro league is still pretty good pay. compared to many other jobs.

D league was the developmental league. At one time their were several minor leagues. I noticed nobody is talking about the Baller league. Did anybody other than the Balls come out of that league? Does it even still exist? It doesn’t matter what letter you use. There are still many different minor leagues and their pay isn’t bad for just playing basketball.

I know a lot of people who would gladly take a job for $25,000 a year just to play basketball! In pro terms, making $50-100,000 seems rather low, but when compared to other jobs for people without a college degree that’s pretty good money! Look around. How much does a typical person without a college degree make coming out of high school? What type of jobs is a typical high school grad working at? Coal mining? Building cars? Mowing lawns? Given a choice, wouldn’t you prefer playing basketball for the same amount of money? I look at that center from UW rashard griffin or Griffith . He made $millions playing basketball in Europe and Israel. H

if playing in the summer leagues doesn’t get you on an nba team, it at least gets you noticed for other potential basketball opportunities! I look at it as sort of an internship. There will be many scouts from all sorts of teams watching . And who knows where your path will lead.

I wanted my son to be a cpa. He chose to be a track coach. The pay is a lot less, but he’s happy at what he’s doing! He’s made friends with and also coached several Olympic track athletes! His teams have already won MAC championships and competed at ncaa championships. Maybe one day he can say I coached an Olympic champion!

For many, it’s not about the $$$, but rather about the dream and the competition. Why do people play fantasy sports? The free leagues are just as fun and competitive as the money leagues!
So I wish them all success in playing in the summer league games. The likelihood of making the nba team is small but you never know who or what team’s scout will be watching

Robinson was a genuine specialist...it is what got him to Michigan, and, not just to the NBA, but, a very efficient and productive guy there.

Sasha has some pretty significant defensive liabilities to overcome, and, is not near a specialist to the extent of Robinson or other guys that have made a living in the NBA as shooters from behind the arc.

Nice that he has an opportunity...I wonder if hometown ties to Popovich are in part why he landed there opposed to on another Summer roster.

Their college stats are pretty darn similar, as were their roles on the teams. Robinson made the most of it, hopefully Sasha can make the most of his skill set as well.

He can make it. He just has to become more consistent with his shot than he was last year with Purdue. There were times when he shot that I thought it was always going in. There were other times when every time he shot I was thinking it was probably going to miss.

With his size, his very quick release, and his occasional ability to take it to the hole. He has a chance. Just has to take advantage of it.

As the season wore on, he seemed to lose his legs. He was routinely short on his jumpers.

Definitely noticed a difference after the finger dislocation (break?), could have been just that he lost his legs too though I suppose.

Yes $50k- $100k is decent money for a normal job but not as a pro athlete.

You won't play as pro athlete forever and then when you're out you'll have to start your career over from nothing.

If you're playing basketball for $50k it's because you love to play. You know eventually you'll have to go find another job

Yes not a career enhancing move long term. Plus wear and tear on your body. Lot more money in Europe usually.
