Great Game, Boilers!! Got the lead, held it, and won. Revenge is sweet! And like Brian says, it was better with Ron Harper, Jr. playing. The Rutgers posters were generally hopeful, but really didn't expect a win. Of course, they blamed it all on the officials. Where have we heard that before?
Rutgers needs to force turnovers. Purdue is turning over the ball at an alarming rate in their last 3 games which includes a blowout loss to Michigan (16 turnovers); 1 pt win at home over Maryland (14 turnovers); and 6 pt win at Northwestern (14 turnovers). If Rutgers can do this then fast break points should come easy.
Maybe Rutgers can beat Purdue without RHJ. Rutgers just needs other players to step up. We have seen many teams rise to the occasion without their stars. Heck, Minnesota beat us shorthanded without their top players and Rutgers was at full-strength. It can happen. Rutgers has to stay locked in and focused if RHJ cannot play. This is going to require a herculean effort from PM, Geo, and Caleb. Very sound defense is how Rutgers is going to win this game.
Hope RU starts strong and can keep the crowd out of the game…likely to go down to the wire again. Expect huge games from Clifford and Headband.
