had a 42 -34 record after 6 yrs including a bowl victory. They finished 5-7 this and supposedly got fired because he didn't want to make changes to his staff. On a side note, McNeill is a Black guy. Amazing how different schools have different visions for their teams. As for us ? well we know . Also you guys will not have to put up w/ me pumping up Mike Norvell anymore as he was named Memphis's new HC.

Norvell is going to slay at Memphis.

Can't believe ECU. They lose a record setting QB, WR, and an up and coming OC after last season, and lose the guy who was going to be the starting QB this year before the season starts. And they still go 5-7 (in a year everyone knew was a rebuilding one). Yet Hazell, who in 3 years here has 1 more total win (6) than McNeill had just last year (5) on a rough year, is still employed.

On a side note, guys like Mike Norvell, Scott Frost, Matt Campbell took jobs at lesser schools and we could have easily had a shot with them. But at least Frost and Norvell are at schools we should be able to steal then from after next year. Think Campbell stays at Iowa State for a bit since it's a P5 school.

Any chance Purdue could get him as a coordinator? Also what about the two OC's from W.Ky/So.Miss? Both of those teams have high powered and high scoring offenses.

I live in Greenville NC where ECU is located. Ruffin was very popular and really did a pretty good job after getting is system and recruits in place. He is an ECU legacy and people are besides themselves and disappointed. The community is about the size of Lafayette / West Lafayette and the really support the program. Two years ago they had first 10 win season in 22 years. Would love to have him in some capacity. Hard to believe we will settle for 6 wins in 3 years and they fire the head man after 5 win season where they lose OC, a record setting quarterback and NFL receiver last year. QB blows an ACL before thIs season... What a contrast.
