You'd think Stanford's Jerrod Haase is going to be added to the speculative list of possible replacements. He was (something like) the associate head coach under Williams for 15 years (both at Kansas and UNC), and has had some success as a HC.

I think that dance was right after the ncaa ruled that although unc admitted it ran a system of fake classes for 18 years for hoops and fb players, there would be no penalty since the system was available to any other illiterate students at unc.

With ol roy suddenly retiring, makes you wonder if another cheating scandal is about ready to drop.

USA Today sportswriter with a possible UNC fit...

" "

And why do I look at Twitter? It's depressing seeing the lack of comprehension people have.

He said he thought Painter would be a good fit, not that he will be the next coach at UNC. No idea why so many didn't seem to be able to comprehend that and no matter who ends up with job, it doesn't change his take here.

I thought the same thing. It will not surprise me if something comes out in the next couple of months...and UNC will cry you can't penalize a coach who wasn't even here during the infraction...besides we've already imposed internal punishment by having each of our walk-ons ineligible to play during the exhibition/scrimmage games next season.

On a related note UNC/Wilmington is nervous and preparing for the NCAA hammer.

Michael Jordan - home run hire!
He has been inept in running the hornets, with one bad draft choice after another. So I don't think he has the mind of a coach when it comes to evaluating talent.

My guess is Larry Brown is coming back to town, unless IU wins a bidding war to make him youth outreach asst coach to Woody, as has been rumored.

Jordan’s not old enough - only 58. Needs to spend another 5 years not coaching college basketball, then maybe he’ll be ready.

UNC assistant coach Hubert Davis or UNCG coach Wes Miller are seen as the most likely picks. Stackhouse is a possibility.

Local media down here thinks they're going to get Mark Few or Jay Wright. Wright is a possibility, I guess, but I don't see Few leaving Gonzaga.

I’d look at Nate Oats: Run N Gun. Chapel Hill. The Powder Blue. The Dean Dome.

White is the only one with any semblance of success.

Robinson failed previously on his own, thus how he ended up back with Roy at KU and went with him to UNC...no chance he gets it.

Stackhouse has done nothing at Vandy and only got the job because of his relationship with the AD (I believe now former AD) who was less than stellar in pretty much every way.

It will be interesting to see who it ultimately is...and, whether it stays "within the family' or not.

It has already been covered...and, rightfully so, but, I am confident that it won't be someone that played there 45 years ago, is in their 60s, and, has never coached college basketball.

I miss Serge Zwikker from Chapel Hill personally...

If Few wins a title at Gonzaga, is he "fulfilled" there and maybe sees an easier road to more titles at UNC? Not sure about the fishing in those parts lol

The fishing is phenomenal. Jordan Lake (the name is a coincidence) is fifteen minutes from Chapel Hill and is absolutely incredible. He'd be two hours from the ocean. If that's an attraction, UNC would actually be a really good fit. If that's the case, I wouldn't rule him out.
