God what a tragedy. Only 20 years old. Gotta wonder if it was something with his heart i.e. enlarged/irregular beat. The big guys seem to have trouble sometimes with heart conditions.

Very sad. He seemed like a great kid from what I heard of him, as well as a promising player.

Life's not fair. I wonder if he ever had a heart screening or if this was undetectable. I know Purdue was in on him for awhile and he's from the Fort Wayne area (New Haven is basically connected in some parts of the city). It's just shocking and sad and makes you ask "why?". RIP Steve McElvene

I wonder how Jay is doing now. I think he dropped out of Purdue and moved back to Champaign-Urbana where his child was, but I haven't heard anymore updates on him.
