Totally agree. If you don't "get" the ABB then you can't understand the magnitude of his passing. Those guys were so good for so long even after losing many other band members.
ABB really regained momentum when they added Warren Haynes and Allen Woody in the mid-90's (who then formed Gov't Mule). But now, without his vocals and keyboards, it might be over forever.

Amazing....he was on his way to dental school to become a dentist and his brother talked him into a two year gig. Then his brother was killed in a motorcycle wreck.He will be missed. Big loss
