Has anyone seen (read) anything about the analysis (Quality) of Brohm hire? Other than the GBI propaganda and HR. I have not. I would like to hear from a non-bias point of view.
A quick Google search and I think you will quickly find there was more hype about Brohm hire from a lot of National sources....than GBI.Has anyone seen (read) anything about the analysis (Quality) of Brohm hire? Type in "Brohm CBS"OK, I did a google search did not see much. I will try again.
Tom Fornelli from CBS, also our good bud Glen Mason said it was a great hire after being a stagnant program for awhile. There was an article written by some national guy that said the Brohm hiring was the best of the 6 hiring of Power 5 conference openings. He listed the IU hiring as 6th best. This is not to say that Brohm was the best available coach to hire, or that he is even among the top 50 college coaches. This is just saying of the 6 power 5 coaching hiring that were made, Purdue made the best choice/hire.

on a related note, Lane Kiffin is supposedly accepting a head coaching job from Florida Atlantic today. Kiffin's ego was too big for Purdue! Charlie Strong wasn't interested. Miles wanted a bigger and better job. Fleck wanted a bigger job. All four lost out! The Purdue job is paying out a lot more than they will be making next year. Purdue hired the best guy who actually wanted the job.
Miles had an archaic offense
Kiffin is an assbag (good coach though) who might not fit everywhere
Charlie who knows, but i dont think he is necessarily as good as the other two.
I think Brohm was a better fit than any of those 4 coaches. But don't think he was hired because others weren't interested.Miles is a strange case. I've read numerous reports that said Miles really wanted the Purdue job. And Purdue would not have had to wait for the coaching carousel and end of season to reach an agreement. This tells me Purdue didn't want Miles ? I don't know.
Despite coaching through the last game, Strong knew he was going to be fired after the Kansas loss. That was similar to Hope knowing he was fired after the Minnesota loss. And Strong probably sent out some feelers before his last game. There was sufficient time for Strong's name to be included for the Purdue job.
As for Kiffin, he and Saban have not been on the same page for awhile, and he wanted out. Was Purdue interested and did they reach out to him? Was he interested enough to reach out to Purdue? We may never know. he's a great recruiter and offensive mind. But, he does come with baggage and issues and an ego..
Sure, Miles, Kiffin and Strong might have been better hires over Brohm.. But none of those three got a power 5 job. And Miles is still looking for a job. I think it can be said of the 6 power 5 jobs that were open and of the 6 coaches hired to fill those jobs, Brohm was the best or maybe second best coach hired. there had to be a reason those other power 5 schools also passed on Miles, Strong and Kiffin.
