Ultimately Spike didn't contribute a large amount over the course of the season or I guess particularly at the end. Not to discredit him but his purpose was just to control the ball so that leaves us with having to fill Biggie's roll with 6 players. Haarms, Eastern, Wheeler, Sasha, Ewing and Taylor. Added to any improvement from our current players I really like what we could be working with next season. Like I said elsewhere I think our balance may be unique next season compared to other teams.

I like our chances to do something special next year if players step up and improve. But this loss is going to sting for a long time! As much as I hate Bill Self, I sure hope Kansas wins it all, it would make losing like this a little easier to take.

Spike was retired due to injury a year ago, so I think we got all we could expect out of him. He was a nice calming influence in some games late in the year. Painter will once again have to recruit over PJ to find a 5th year PG that can better match up with top-end opposing point guards if Purdue wants to get back to a Sweet 16 next year. And I say that as a big PJ Thompson fan. That kid really has maximized his talent and become much more of a contributor than I would think anyone would have imagined.

Refresh my memory, how did we end up with no scholarship seniors? What happened to that class? Talk about some misses....

One thing needs replaced is the easy way to exploit Painters one dimensional defense. Doesn't matter how our team matches up with another, this how we do it, so go ahead and beat our brains out doing the same thing over and over and over ...... and I paraphrase a quote from MP after the Iowa State game ...I really had nothing to tell them on how to stop what Iowa State was doing to us .....

Jay Simpson was originally in the class before with Ray Davis, AJ Hammons, and RJohnson. He was able to get a medical hardship waiver to be considered in the next class (from a graduation standpoint). Then, unfortunately, his playing days ended with his heart condition diagnosis.
Thanks.
