Can't believe Hazell wasted the bye week to go see Jackson Anthrop. Central Catholic was going to destroy Clinton Central so what was he expecting to see? I also would hope that if we offered young Anthrop he would accept automatically. Take the opportunity to go see someone on the top of your list. Showing up at a recruits high school game in the middle of your season speaks volumes. Am I wrong on this thinking?

Maybe hazell's thinking, "hey I'm not going to be here next year anyway, so instead of schlepping all over the country recruiting, I'll just drive across town."

This is no dig on Anthrop, but he's not exactly a sought after recruit. He listed Saint Francis and Indiana State as two of the schools he's looking at. So yes, probably not worth your bye week visit.

Hazell is done and he knows it. Going through the motions so he can pocket the millions we will owe him. Another coach quitting on the job. Rip the Band-Aid off.
Do you really think so? I honestly am not sure if the decisions been made.

Since it would absolutely kill recruiting if something is not said very soon Burke has to give him the vote of confidence publically or stay silent until after the IU game to announce his dismissal!

Actually, that was a model of efficiency -- Central Catholic led 70-0 before halftime, with Jackson scoring touchdowns on six of his nine touches, allowing Hazell to head out early (from Clinton) after showing some love to the family that has provided Purdue with three scholarship players, including John. Just the week before, Jackson had been invited to visit that hell-hole down south.

You would need someone to ask him about it first.

There's literally been 0 media pressure or questions asked on Hazell from any media in Indiana, including this website.

It's a model of lunacy. Young Anthrop has offers from Indiana State and Saint Francis. The loyalty of the Anthrops to Purdue is appreciated but if the kid can play B1G football then he should already be in the fold. Take your bye week and use the opportunity to impress a higher rated recruit that we might be a stretch to get.

I heard Burke is pushing for Hazell to offer Jackson a scholarship, but for tuition only, no room and board included. That way he can live at home and commute back and forth to campus, and save the AD about $9000, which Morgan can reinvest in the new varsity bowling complex.

Let's face it! Purdue is stuck with Hazell. He will not be fired, and Purdue will continue as the perennial Big 10 football cellar dweller!

If Hazell stays, that means losing is fine, worst team ever is fine and more excused need made up by the people with the power to fire.

The fact that no changes were made during the bye week lead me to believe he gets another year....Don't agree with it but I think it's what will happen. I personally can't fathom winning 6 games in almost three years and not making some sort of a change, If my ass was on the line, I'd try something.

No one thought Danny could play in the B1G and he is our best receiver. I think anyone named Anthrop has earned the benefit of doubt

I would be OK with offering him a "Preferred Walk-On" invite....but I would'nt waste a scholarship on him.

I have nothing but praise for the Anthrop family's dedication to Purdue. But you don't waste your bye week Friday night to go see him play in Michigantown.

Absolutely not but I don't offer preferred walk on

Why not? This would guarantee him a roster spot over a "regular" walk-on and if he pans out, he can always be given a scholarship his JR or SR year. He probably won't get any other Div.1 offers, so if he wants to go to Purdue, this would be a good compromise for Purdue, him and the Anthrop family.

How would you feel if he took an IU offer? I think he takes full ride if offered

If IU offers, he should take it. I would feel fine because we didn't waste a scholarship. We need to give scholarships to the best players available not because of their last name. IU won't offer because they can't afford to waste a scholarship either.
