I'm not going t o complain. I love this Purdue class, and expect it will add two more players to make a quality class. it looks like painter added three of his Plan A guys and players he's targeted for a long time.

But I just looked at our BIG 10 ranking after Hunter was added being 9th! That seemed really low. I know IU, UW, Maryland, NW Mich, and MSU have all added some quality players. but we did too. I'd rather have Hunter over Phinisee and Carmody!

then I took a look at our national ranking. Purdue is #22. is it possible the BIG 10 could have 10 teams worthy of being in the dance?

think of the implications. That means essentially there are 9 teams from the BIG 10 in the top 20 of recruiting this year. All I can say is WOW. the BIG 10 will be one tough hombre conference, taking names, and dominating the NCAA.

And the BIG 10 hasn't stopped yet. Castleton is coming. Langford may come. other 4* and 5* players may come. transfers may come.

as I said, I love Purdue's 2018 class. but this is going to be one tough battlefield. Duke and UNC may still be elite. but the BIG 10 , as a conference will dominate.

We're going to be seeing some exciting basketball the next few years.

The rankings are subjective. Purdue got what they needed and add to what they had. IU still has major glaring holes. Ohio state added a bunch of guards, and still has major holes. Michigan and MSU make sense to put over Purdue. Maryland has two top 50 players, so it makes sense they are above. I would take our class over IU, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Iowa, and Rutgers.

Williams is underrated and is a top 75 talent, especially a strong he continues to get back in shape. He will be a monster in Painter's system.

Hunter has versatility and size and is a clear top 100 recruit. He is a perfect fit for Painter's system.

Dowuana has so much upside and a very high ceiling. He could up being up like JJ with time in the system. Nice touch around the rim and plenty of size and athleticism. He could up being an elite rim protector.

When it is all said in done, this could be viewed as a top 10 class and all three have potential to be all timers.

I would say Purdue is 3-4 in the Big Ten if you factor in fit and what the team needs. Painter filled the needs. Anything else would just be extra.

EXACTLY! We had needs - they got addressed with 4-star talent. We also have senior leadership this year and next year. Several other teams don't - plus ours are damn good leaders and our recruits are respectful team listeners until it's their time to lead. There are intangibles that are far greater than adding some ranking numbers.

SYNERGISM - when the end result is far greater than the sum of the numbers. (At times referred to as "chemistry."

This pos t is about our conference, not just purdue. I'm looking at the entire BIG 10 and being amazed. not specific teams or needs. As a conference we've been taking a back seat to the ACC and Uk and Kansas and the Gonzagas and Big east of the world.

but now we could have at least 9 powerful teams in the top 20. we could have 8-10 teams from our conference make the tourney. We could OWN all of the at large bids. WOW!

There is still a loooong way to go in this recruiting cycle. Don't look at the current rankings as an indication that the Big Ten is back. UK is ranked 48th in these rankings. They will easily be top 3 by the time everyone commits.

And the curse that comes with this blessing .... every B1G will lose more games than they would in an easier conference .... how that translates into the Dance ... who knows, but it is the curse that goes with a great conference.
