Seems that we used to actively recruit Chicago in all major sports and they have produced a lot of top caliber athletes. Looking at the latest Trib All-Star list no mention of Purdue. Last top IL recruit I can think of was Brian Cardinal, under GK. We used to get football, b-ball, and Women's b-ball players from there and now seemingly nothing. Is this more MB direction or lack of effort, or ???
There sure are enough Alums in the area to help. We even missed on legacy, Barrett Benson who is going to NW. If MP is going to lose recruiting wars to NW (i.e. Benson this year, McIntosh, Watson last year) he may as well pack his bags and hit the road.

What does the trib show for Woodson. I think we're on him pretty well. Maybe he isn't considered Chicago?

I'd say Indiana and Ohio have been good to us as of late. Painter was on Norvell for awhile as well.

I mean, come on man, you are going to use Barrett Freaking Benson as a reason to fire Painter.

Freakin Painter isn't recruiting Boston either, what a dope. Or Butte MT --- you suck Painter. What about Bosnia????? Come on, pull your head out of your duffer Painter!!!!!!!!

Kendall Stephens and Anthony Johnson were 4-star players from IL. Nate Minnoy was also highly regarded out of Chicago.

I have heard there are some problems with the public league schools in Chicago. Getting a player out of there means having to do some things that are outside the NCAA rules. That may be why a lot of programs are stepping around the kids from that area.

Althoff is a southern IL school from the part of IL that does not recognize Chitcago's existence except as a money drain on the rest of the state. It's actually pretty close to St Louis.
It's been awhile since Purdue recruited that area, and it paid off when they did. Cuonzo Martin and Ian Stanback were great Boilermakers.

At least in basketball we aren't going 3,000 miles away to find a 2 star commit...
