These articles tell us things we already knew. Tennessee's coaching search probably involved Nick Saban at one point, that's how poorly it was ran. Brohm most likely had a discussion, or his agent (assuming he has one) had a discussion, with Tennessee.

And having a head coach, and coaching staff, that is desirable by other "higher profile" schools has a positive impact in recruiting just makes sense.

I hesitate to use the term “gamesmanship” as it can carry a negative connotation. However, Brohm seems to have a plan for every move on, and off, the field (which is extremely refreshing after the Hazell, um, situation). He and Purdue both benefited from the TN coaching search/fiasco, and I think this is just him milking it a little more. He knows what he’s doing with his word choice.
