I'd say his greatest attribute right now is his vision in finding where the hole will open and not necessarily where it is open right now. He showed a good ability to make a cut back in to the defense where a hole was already opening up. This cut back ability, similar to that of Kory Sheets when at Purdue, is a great attribute to have when you don't have elite or breakaway speed. It allows you to use the momentum of the defenders against them to gain more yards.Looks like pretty good speed in video
So you’re saying he’s the next LeVeon Bell - got it!I'd say his greatest attribute right now is his vision in finding where the hole will open and not necessarily where it is open right now. Now a three star per Rivals
Recruiting class goes up one spot.
If Durham or Marks gets three stars should get close to 35 but that will be the highwater point.
What do you think could be the worst we’d finish? Top 50?
My unscientific guess would be 43-47.
We probably won't jump anyone in front of us currently and I'm assuming most of the following teams will jump us once their classes fill in:
Iowa
Florida
FSU
Tennessee
Nebraska
Arkansas
Ole Miss (maybe not: sanctions)
Northwestern
Exactly! A lot of our ranking is due to our quantity not quality! Once those other schools get their 5* recrtuits to finally academically qualify, I expect their rankings will rise above us.
Kinda. To get the rankings they take the top 20 players in your class. Eliminates the quantity bias.Exactly! A lot of our ranking is due to our quantity not quality! Once those other schools get their 5* recrtuits to finally academically qualify, I expect their rankings will rise above us.
Northwestern is an interesting one. Only 15 commits and haven't had a verbal since the summer. I wonder if Fitz is holding back a few schollies for the late signing period. My unscientific guess would be 43-47.

Who would you rather be:
Signing 24 guys on Wednesday or signing 11 on Wednesday and hoping the other dozen go your way. Remember, no more poaching from smaller programs any more because of the early signing period.
Happened to Purdue all the time durin Hazell
I see several of those teams like Nebraska, FSU and Tennessee with a low number of signings and a new coach. Tennessee had a top 10 class before 15 players left in October/November. Many of those elite players that left are sill uncommitted and may return.
I know of a 4 * TE who just announced his final 5 today and remains uncommitted. Those schools are Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M and a surprise - Illinois.
As I look at Purdue's top targets, several remain uncommitted. there are a lot of 5* athletes who are still uncommitted. Do we have space for any of those super, elite athletes? or know of any coming to Purdue? they are going to go somewhere. and my guess is just like Stepp, they will find their way to a team like FSU or Tennessee or Nebraska before next Fall.
I'm happy with this class, but I feel powerhouses like Florida and FSU will find and sign currently uncommitted players/ talent, and their ranking will rise. Whereas Purdue is basically full and may add Moore, and one other player. I can't see Purdue's ranking rising any higher than it currently is.
I look at some of the football powerhouses like I look at Purdue's basketball team. They will sign the players they really wanted, and they are good enough that they feel they can wait until the Spring to fill out their rosters. You claim the great ones might not be there. but isn't that the same strategy Painter is using? and we all claim there will be great players left for Painter. So there will also be great players left to sign with Florida and FSU. and many may wait t announce their intentions at their web cam press conferences signings on Wednesday!
If I thought he was the next LeVeon Bell, I would have said exactly that. I didn’t and compared him to a current Boilermaker and a former one...neither of which is remotely close to an NFL feature back that Bell is.So you’re saying he’s the next LeVeon Bell - got it!
Sorry- just messing with you. Should have made that more clear- my bad!If I thought he was the next LeVeon Bell, I would have said exactly that. I didn’t and compared him to a current Boilermaker and a former one...neither of which is remotely close to an NFL feature back that Bell is.
We went through this last year. You really expect them to sign with Purdue at this point?
Ahhh, this is what drives me insane about this message board! lol. It is so hard to tell when someone is just jabbing with you or if they are truly being a dick. Either way, my bad for the misinterpretation!Sorry- just messing with you. Should have made that more clear- my bad!
Probably right here Wole. Purdue's got a very good class but unless they were to drop some lower ranked players and added some 4 or 5 star ones, likely the class is as high as it is going to get RIGHT NOW. Purdue's class currently sits at #10 in the conference BUT the other 4 schools behind Purdue (Iowa, NU, Nebraska, and Illinois) don't have more than 16 a piece. Unless their class sizes need to remain that small, Purdue likely gets passed by those schools as they all have at least 1 four star recruits a piece (NU-1, Nebraska-4, Iowa-3, Illinois-2). The recruiting this year is light years ahead of where it has been the last 5-6 years and is likely to continue to get better...but don't be fooled in to thinking this class was going to be a top 30 class without a 4 or 5 star player....it just rarely happens that way UNLESS you get a ton of near 4-star talent like Kory Taylor or Ahmad Anderson. That's NOT what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is Purdue's current rating is probably as high/good as it's going to be unless Moore commits. there are no hidden 5* recruits who are going to change their mind and sign late with Purdue.
However, looking at the ratings of the average Nebraska, FSU, Stanford, Arkansas, Iowa, and Northwestern recruits, if any of those teams adds just 5 players, regardless of the players' ratings, those teams will pass Purdue. the only reason Purdue is currently ranked higher than those teams is because they all have fewer than 15 recruits. once the other schools have 20 players committed, they will all have higher ranked classes than Purdue.
and as for the remaining talent? 23 of the top 50 ranked players are still uncommitted. Are any of them coming to Purdue ? No. but they may sign with FSU or Stanford, or OSU or Florida. and those schools will have plenty of scholarships to give out after the early signing period. Whereas, Purdue is basically full +/- 1. So I'm not really worried about FSU's current ranking. I'm confident they'll find some elite players.
I'm happy with this recruiting class. But by 1 March, I expect it will be ranked closer to 50 than to 40.
