Ray matching up with Bishop Daniels

Was anyone else a little surprised to see Ray matching up with Daniels instead of Sanders last night? Daniels is definitely a fine second option but I've seen Rutgers a couple of times this year and, like last night, Sanders is really all they have. Obviously didn't make too much of a difference, just went against what we've done every other game. Did anyone see any comments about it before or after the game by chance?

I remember one of the commentators saying that Daniels blew by Ray one time... and that you don't hear someone say that often.

Seems like Sanders is better than Daniels and maybe quicker? Maybe Ray's knee just isn't quite ready for that kind of quickness? After a few knee issues myself back in the day, I was always tentative at pushing myself too hard -- that said, losing a game at the co-rec really wasn't worth tearing my knee up.

Yeah and Sanders uses a lot of stops and starts and just have kind of a jerky way of moving so maybe Painter didn't want to risk it? Maybe let someone else show they can be a stopper? It was the fact that it was a cross matchup too that kind of confused me as well.

I still wonder if the assignments he gets are based off of his knee. It's just my inexperienced opinion, but I still wonder.
I think they are looking to get him rest and take pressure off of him at that end whenever possible since his injury, and he admitted that he is not 100%...thus, in a game like Penn St. last week and Rutgers last night, no need to waste energy or having him exert himself in a game when it is not necessary.

Got ya. And in theory OSU too... rest up for the rematch against Iowa.

I'd like to see Ray start out on OSUs best offensive player, though I don't even know who that would be at this point. If nothing else just because OSU has shown that when they get down they fold and quit and I'd love to suck their soul out early.

I have no idea, but what better game than to have a teaching moment for others even if that may not have been the primary reason it was still a good experience.
