Anyone else think he might make a good tight end? Physical, athletic, good hands, hard working, about the right size. I think that would be cool for him to give it a try.. maybe he finds a niche a la Antonio Gates. What are the rules on that anyway? I know Greg Paulus did 4 years of bball at Duke then a year as QB at Syracuse.

Sorry for the randomness of this post, but I think we've now picked apart all the shortcomings after that terrible loss in Madison...

RD is a little light for tight end; has the size for DB/safety right now, so he'd have to bulk up or play a different position. He'd have a year of eligibility.....Roosevelt Barnes did it for Purdue playing linebacker/DB....he was great coming off the edge on the pass rush. Interestingly, Gates never did play football in college although he wanted to play both that and BB at Michigan State.

I wouldn't doubt RD could do it if he wanted to....he has the athletic skills and the mentality.

I feel like Ray is more of a TE than a DB. Ray is 6'6" 220. I can't think of a DB with that kind of height. Just looked up Gates numbers and he is 6'4" 255 right now (I bet he was lighter coming out of school). So Ray isn't quite as heavy, but that kind of weight could easily be put on if he wanted to play football.

Ray is going to do good things in his life, whatever he chooses. He is one of the most motivated/motivating leaders to wear a Purdue uniform.

I think Ray will opt to stay in the sport he has been successful in, play professionally; though not in the U.S. and later coach Purdue with Robbie Hummel as his assistant.

Ray Day with Hummel as an assistant? I would love to play for that coaching staff. I bet lots of recruits would as well.
