LB coach David Elson

- Born and raised in Indianapolis
- Head coach at Western Kentucky, coached at Marian, played a Butler
- Knew Jeff Brohm, Nate Dennison, Mark Hagen
- Emphasizes communication
- Elson was analyst on Purdue staff last year
- What does an analyst do? He did it at IU 12 years ago
- Analyst is glorified professional GA; but each situation is different
- Right hand man to Brad Lambert last year
- Really wanted to be coaching on the field
- Jack Harbaugh was a big influence on me
- Kieren Douglas and Clyde Washington have really impressed
- OC Brothers was doing well while he was in there; back this week
- Jacob Wahlberg has done a good job filling in at MIKE
- May get Semisi back for some reps
- Building some depth
- Jalen Graham is with the safeties. He works with Ron English


LB Kieren Douglas

- We advocated for Coach Elson to be LB coach
- He is intense and value his energy
- Why wouldn't I come back for a 6th year; last year was first time I got to play
- LBs are progressing
- Have energy and effort
- Staff being cautious with veterans, not wanting them to get hurt
- Will be good to get Semisi back
- Me and Semisi are hardest hitters in America


LB Clyde Washington

- Trying to learn from older players
- Playing WILL
- Wears No. 42 to honor his late grandfather who played football at Purdue
- Jaylan Alexander, Semisi and KD have helped me with my reads and keys
- Was committed to Temple before flipping to Purdue
- Felt something as soon as he came on campus for a camp
- Coach Elson is a great guy, gets on you when he needs to; loves football
