Question

Can someone tell me why Dakota is sometimes referred to as The Midwestern Cowboy?

Caleb "Biggie" Swanigan nicknamed him that when he wrote up his own teammates' player bios for fun in October. Apparently, Rick Pizzo of BTN picked up on that and started calling Mathias that as well when going through highlights on "The B1G Show", the "B1G Finale" or whatever they call it now.

Gotcha thank you! I figured it maybe had to do with his shooting ability and I wondered if he was maybe a country boy at heart:)

I know that the last few games Dakota has corralled his opponent defensively it seems!

I do believe that he is from a smaller rural community so he may be a country boy. He can skin a buck, he can run a trout line...

I'm pretty sure the phrase is "run a trot line"; a trot line is a line strung over a section of water with a pair of floats on either end (or suspended from branches on the shore), with multiple lines with baited catfish hooks off that main "trot" line. (sorry, it's the engineer in me; gotta try to correct sh_t, necessary or not)

As an Engineer as well, I loved your response. And, it's accurate but you failed to mention baiting with stinky, long dead things to bring in the catfish.

No worries! I appreciate the boosting of my knowledge. If it catches trout, does it then become "trout" line?:D

Actually if you are targeting flathead over channels live fish such as small bluegill or crappie are the preferred bait over the stinky, smelly dead stuff
