Purdue Softball Reaches Big Ten Semis

This is exciting stuff - we (or at least I) tend to forget about the less visible/covered sports teams but those guys and gals work just as hard as their more “popular” counterparts to excel and rep Purdue.
I’ve watched the end of the previous 2 games and frankly, Purdue looks dialed in and more than capable of pulling off another win tonight. Team looks connected and energized, and full of joy. Recipe for success? Sure looks like it right now.
Boiler Up ladies and get this next one.
Obviously helps playing at home but geez it’s about time Purdue catches some athletic schedule breaks!
I’ll be watching tonight. Good luck team!

It really helps their Cinderella run that 8th seeded Michigan (usually a powerhouse, so kind of surprising they are seeded this low) upset top seeded Oregon.

Much like in WBB - the additions of UCLA, Oregon and Washington has made a huge impact on B1G softball - which usually is pretty weak nationally compared to the SEC and B12 - primarily due to weather constraints. Big Blue actually has competition now with the west coast schools joining.

By now I'm sure everyone's aware that Purdue didn't receive an NCAA bid. I'm not surprised, but it looks like Purdue was a serious candidate. Several last-minute bracketologies had Purdue as either the last team in or the first team out just hours before the selection show. Hopefully this year will be something to build on. It would be nice to have more teams than just volleyball and men's basketball consistently make the NCAA Tournament.

^^This^^ - 100% agree. Fingers crossed they don’t lose any players to the portal for next season. Seem to have decent, solid talent throughout the lineup. Fun team - easy to root for!

I get what you're saying and agree, but Women (already), Men (on the verge today) to head to the NCAA championship finals in Golf. The men are 7 strokes up in the regional standings in 4th place today as I speak. It's in the last round to make the upcoming NCAA finals. Top 5 teams from each region move on.

Good call on the golf teams, especially women. Can't believe I forgot about them. They won the 2010 National Championship!

And some of the more individualized Olympic sports have sometimes been nationally competitive, especially divers.

Yep, diving also as you said. Men's golf team got 4th place ahead of many higher ranked teams in the Auburn regionals yesterday. They are off to the NCAA finals, as the ladies are.
