Purdue runs to first win (link)

Clearly not much interest here as most of the few fans who comment on this board seem most interested in replacing Versyp and if the season continues like it started they may get their wish. But tonight they played well against an overmatched foe but not a terrible team. This team is a group of forwards trying to mesh with a group of guards. Altho Kiesler tries hard it is the forwards who are going to play most in the interior, which may cause big problems when we play any team with a strong front line. (Losing Horrocks and Bodnar really hurt and is why Versyp brought in Diagou.) There is reasonable talent here but it has to mesh and a solid rotation formed. We are still weak at pg and Morisette, as well as the whole team, seem to be brick layers as shooters. Some of the younger players seem better and more promising altho Keys seems very solid. Some real tests coming up that will show a lot. Revising my prediction, I think Purdue finishes around the 7th spot in the league. Not very good, but there is a lot of youth here.

You and I used to be two of the more "blue sky" people here. Now I feel that we struggle for finding good things. Though I'm not here to spit venom, I'm feeling a change might be the only way to get some excitement back with fans. I see we're playing Stanford in the near future. That could be ugly. Just my take.

We have some pretty talented freshmen on this team, unfortunately the upperclassmen seem to have been better when they were freshmen than they do now. That is coaching, or the lack thereof. Still way too many unforced turnovers to contend for anything. Fun to have a win, but Purdue fans understand the game of basketball and don't like to watch bad fundamentals. Hence, a once intimidating Mackey Arena feels like a ghost town.

Agree, things seem to have really changed and hard to know what is going to happen. Hard to see a lot of positives but I always wait to see how the season develops before concluding anything, but not a promising start. This team has no identity right now, but that can come.

And to think I was considering season tickets again - geez !

Something tells me our new AD has a full plate.
