I keep trying to tell people that we have a legit shot at him. Being in the area you "hear" all sorts of stuff and one common thing is that Purdue still very much is in the mix.Originally posted by boiler-deuce:
Oh wow......heard Alan Karpick this morning talk like we still have a shot. But, did relent that....can he say "No" to final four coaches???? C'mon Man! Land this big fish.
I think only one team is in the mix at this point since he is announcing next week. I can't imagine it is still fluid if he is ready to announce.Originally posted by BBG:

So saw your response on my phone since ignore isn't working on the app and wanted to give props to you at least for not making a derogatory response. What we need to do is just agree to disagree on Painter .. remember that and not reduce threads in to 5th grade banter. Something we have both been guilty of.Originally posted by cprh9u:

Jerry Meyer the guy at 247 said its down to us, MSU and Cal and we are each offering different things.
Cal - the package deal
MSU - is saying they plan to use him like Draymond Green
Purdue - saying you will be the 4 in our offense next to AJH and Haas, and that is what he wants.
I am crossing my fingers, but watch him pick Duke or something haha
Hammons and Davis were Juniors. Smotherman and Stephens barely contributed. The only other is Haas. Who cares how a kid is rated after he is on the team? Don't call out the board as we spent 2 years in last place, then only managed to be a "bubble team" this year. No matter how hard you try to blame us, it's not our fault just because we call it how it is. If we're so loaded with talent, as you claim, we should not have been a "bubble" and "One and done". I'd like to see Hammons stay and Swanigan to sign....IMO, we need at bare minimum one to remain stable. Lose both? We decline, IMO.Originally posted by lbodel:
Arguments are not legit and well put together when they consist of all or nothing. If Purdue doesn't get Swanigan, it doesn't say that Painter can't recruit.
You wouldn't now it by reading these boards, but we have more 4 star talent on our team currently than the "Baby Boilers" teams. We didn't have 4 star players coming off the bench then.
I can't count the number of years that Purdue was predicted by the realists to have a bad year because of who was or wasn't returning. They almost always respond by winning or challenging for the B1G title. How about this year? The realists predicted another last place finish and no tourney. The reality was a 3rd place finish in the B1G and a solid entry to the tourney. (Only the realists still call them a bubble team. The NCAA Committee certainly didn't. But then, their agendas are different.) The freshman class is very good and will be sophomores. Players will develop over the summer. The entire team will have another year together to sharpen their team play. For the first time in some time Purdue will have at least one senior who has been in the program for 4 years. The coaches will make adjustments and the players will step up.Originally posted by boiler-deuce:

I can't rely on your judgement anymore since Wisconsin made it to the Final 4Originally posted by boiler-deuce:

Ok....I hope so. If AJ leaves and Swanigan signs elsewhere, I think you're wrong....but, hope you're right.Originally posted by purdue4sure:
