Yeah, agree here. Stop messing with it.The greatest logos are the ones that don't change. Look at the Cowboys, Packers and Yankees.

Actually it is very distinctive.... living in other parts of the US it has been recognized by many when I wear a hat or shirt with the Slant P, I continue to get many who ask if I attended Purdue...old complaint is that others outside of the Athletic Department such as the All-American Band and the University continue to use the other font for their P or Purdue...
Baseball in the past had what looked like a Pittsburgh Pirates hat... I think using different fonts is confusing. In fact I found this picture from Friday night.
