Purdue holds off Ball State

A win is a win and this NIT experience is very good for a young team. They were gritty and Odem, Harris, and McClaughlin will be big stars at Purdue. One one gripe and it almost cost us this game. When we had that 11 pt lead in the 4th we went down the floor 5 times and Clarissa, our PG, never touched the ball. Instead Keys and Farquar got stripped and allowed them easy layups. When you are trying to hold a lead, your pg has to have the ball--has to. That is what a PG does. I am hopeful Versyp told them that or should have. They did not do it and we almost lost because the others could not handle the pressure. If we lost, that would have been why.This team is confounding as it plays really well and then like it is clueless. Part of that is youth, but there are certain things in games that are givens. Having the ball the hands of your pg at the end is critical. Anyway, good win. At Indiana will be tough because we have not been able to handle their interior depth. But who knows.
