I was so fed up after the IU game (and pissed off at the results of the entire season), I called the JPC office and Morgan Burke's office to bitch. Most interesting part of the calls? The JPC office said that they only had a call or two on Monday like mine.

Really? If this was Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, or one of the other big-time college football programs, angry fans would be burning up the phone lines on Monday. Heck, those schools would have to bring in reinforcements for a week just to man the phones and endure the wrath of pissed off alums.

But not at Purdue. We just lay down and take years of this BS.

You have every right to contact JPC and tell them how you feel, and in fact I applaud you for taking action and letting your feelings be known to those in charge. However, I wouldn't expect anyone at JPC to endorse your displeasure, suggest that it's widespread, or respond with "Thank you so much for calling sir. I'll bet we've had 400 calls from angry and disgusted JPC members today, so you're certainly not alone in expressing your frustration. And quite frankly, if not for calls like yours, we'd have no idea that our fan base was anything less than 100% supportive of the football program and the direction it's headed." Regardless of their own feelings, they have to screw on their happy faces every day and project relentless positive energy.

In other words, you don't stop a bank run by validating depositors' fears...

I'm not in any way critical of your efforts, but I'm also not surprised by the response.

What did Burkes office say???

I'm a big Green Bay Packers fan. Mark Murphy, CEO of the Packers hand writes responses to letters (now is it Mark or someone else writing. Not sure. But he focuses on the fans). The responses are not canned. (Like the canned bs I got back from purdue presidents office)

Example. My brother wrote mark Murphy a letter about shotgun snaps and how they are not crisp and delays Rodgers drop back. He got a letter back that thanked him for writing, talked about the center to qb exchange and indicated that it was something they have discussed.

Now who the heck knows if they actually did that but they care enough to connect the fans.

In the past you could also call his office (or Ron Wolfe) and often times talk to them.

I'm sure Morgan isn't taking calls

WTF could they say? I guess someone could take your call and say something like "I know our boss is a dumb a$$ but he is in love with Haze and only has another year or so himself to loot the Purdue coffers so we are going with the flow for that time period. Meanwhile, to appeal somewhat to the fans, we have found a couple of scapegoats to blame for the failures of the last 3 years. And, you will be happy to know that we are not increasing ticket prices next year.

That's the answer you can expect. They are not going to admit anything else. But look at this board -- there are a fraction of the people that used to engage actively left. And given the outlook, the numbers will dwindle further. An earlier poster said it best - this is a waste of time

The only language Morgan understands is money. Emails and phone calls are background noise, as long as the money keeps coming in.

I know how you feel. I have emailed different ones at Purdue and usually get no response. I also call into the radio show after the game to vent. I wonder if it does any good? I just want different ones to know that we fans aren't going to take this.

I mean, I think most people these days do not call in for this sort of thing. It's a lot easier to b!tch via email. And chewing out a receptionist really only makes the receptionist's day suck as the "top of the chain" don't care if that happens, nor experiences it.

That being said, communicating with the JPC via email is actually more helpful as they probably collect that type of complaints - or at least forward them (whereas you can't forward a phone conversation). They also probably don't take anyone under $1,000 donor remotely serious - but obviously collectively it makes a difference.

Honestly, the other group to email would be BOT.

Purdue fans get what we deserve. See my comments in the Anthony Watts thread and that should've been intended for this thread instead of a welcome to the team thread.

I'm not surprised either by their response. But shouldn't it concern them that more people aren't calling???

A pissed off fan base at least cares. When no one is talking, that means that no one cares! Now they should be concerned!

Take the message boards for instance, there are only a few people posting. That should tell everyone that very few people care...most are just happy that the season is over!

When people stop going to games and having an interest in the program...maybe then they will care!

I'm interested to see what happens with season tickets next year. What is the record low???????

The record low will be whatever they manage to sell next year.

To be honest, if I was the CEO of the Packers and a fan was writing me to discuss the Center to QB exchange I would throw that letter in the trash.

Why not write a letter to a brain surgeon to discuss procedure when the level of understanding is about as much as the average fan knows of how an NFL runs its offense.
