Iowa fan here. Very impressed with your team's accomplishments. While Purdue's offense gets a lot of pub and deservedly so, its your defense that stands out to me based on the final scores against OSU, MSU, and Nebraska to mention a few. Whom to watch out for on the PU Defense and what are the overall strengths and weaknesses?

As for Iowa, it's common knowledge that we are very average offensively and tend to lean on the defense to keep us in games. None of the 3 defensive levels are lights out but none of them are liabilities either. Rarely take risks and when we do (e.g. against PSU) can be exploited for huge plays. Very talented and/or fundamentally sound offenses tend to put up (say 28-30) points but mediocre or one-dimensional ones (and Purdue isn't one of them) usually get obliterated to well below their usual output.

So back to the original question -- what is Purdue likely to do on defense, strengths/weaknesses, and who are the players to watch out for?

You’ll likely see more press man coverage this week than you have seen this season. Brohm is ok with giving up some big plays if it means he gets the ball back again on offense. Strength is in the linebackers with three really good ones that could start at most other schools in the conference outside of UM it appears. Bailey is an absolute playmaker at LB and is the defensive leader. Thieneman at safety is essentially another LB that has 3 sacks on the season.

The defense will play more down hill this weekend of the showing last week imo.

Pass rush is our biggest weakness, our front four get nowhere near the QB, that forces Holt to send more LB and S blitzes.
