Sad that we can't have anything on there about the Women's program. I don't think Versyp gets another year...just too much bad basketball and the program doesn't appear to be trending anywhere really but relatively exactly where it is at. Purdue needs to be competing for conference championships on a regular basis for both men's and women's basketball

When was the last time the women had an actual chance at winning the conference title?
16-17: 10-6 (5th place)
15-16: 10-8 (5th place)
14-15: 3-15 (13th)
13-14: 11-5 (4th)
12-13: 10-6 (t 3rd)
11-12: 11-5 (t 2nd)
10-11: 9-7 (7th)
09-10: 9-9 (5th)
08-09: 13-5 (2nd 2 games back)
07-08: 11-7 (t3rd)
06-07: 14-2 (2nd)

That is Versyp's total record in her time and arguably her best success came with mostly recruits she didn't bring in from 06-08. Since the 2011 team finished 2nd, she had not placed better than a tie for 3rd (which was really 4 games back of the eventual champion) and appears to be trending downward more as this year's team is currently 1-2 with losses to IU and Wisconsin (both bad teams this year) and with upcoming game against Rutgers tonight. I doubt the women finish above 7th place this year and probably finish lower next season with an incredibly young group of players with no proven commodities outside of the freshman that fell in to Versyp's lap after Florida fired their coach.

MBob needs to go grab Katie Geralds from Marian University as she has won two straight NAIA National Championships and that team (as quoted from some local coaches here) could likely beat a lot of D2 schools as well). Geralds is incredibly loved in the state by the coaches and her ability as a coach to recruit at a high level to an NAIA school would be valued. Last year, Marian finished 35-3 for the season....she deserves to come back to Purdue and elevate the program back to where it should be.

Umm - the thread was about Purdue men's basketball and football.

Not trying to be an ass...but the thread topic is Purdue Basketball, not Purdue Men's Basketball. I clarified that it is sad there wasn't anything good you could put about the women's program in with all the good.

I didn't think I needed to put Men's basketball in the title well...because I posted it on the men's basketball board. Your entire reply was about the women's team which I never mentioned - and they have their own board if you want to chat about ladies hoops. Peace out!

With your rationale, why would you post about the football team when they have their own board?

Still enjoy your post btw and appreciate you consolidating all of the great things that have happened recently.

The solution is much simpler than that. Offer a bunch of D2 men's players to re-identify as women and give them scholarships to come play for Purdue. Juwanna Mann, Part 2. Coming soon to an arena near you. Might as well get ahead of the wave and get a national title or 2 out of it!
