PU > KU

That's great. I'd like to see all the posters in this board who constantly berate ESPN eat their words! ESPN believes in Purdue!

How does MSU not have 3? I hate them as much as the next guy, but they have some star power.

Bridges and Jackson.....then some really good players......Michigan State is going to be a tough out all season. JMHO, but Winston and to a lesser extent Ward will determine how far they ultimately go. They started coming on toward the end of the year.....not surprised they are right near the top of the rankings. The Boilers will have their hands full dealing with the Spartans in East Lansing this season. Should be a good game/challenge.

msu has really been hit hard by the injury but the last couple of years. I believe last year they had 2 front court starters miss the season which really put them in a bind with schools like PU that had great front courts.
Hopefully for them, the SI Cover curse doesn't come back to bite them with Bridges being a recent coverboy.

Excited for the season to start. We have a lot of options offensively. I don't know if I can recall a more balanced offensive team in recent years. Both in the perimeter and down low. This will make things difficult for our opposition to game plan against us. We just need to run good offensive and take good shots.

Defensive and rebounding will dictate our season. If Isaac can stay out of foul trouble while playing good position D (I liken it to JJ senior year, need him on the court) and both he and Vince can up their rebounding games, we can go far. It would be nice to have some additional D and reb contributions from Haarms and Taylor down low. I think we should be okay on the perimeter defensively. When we need stops we can put Carson, Dakota and Nojel.

I wonder where Mathias would be if they expanded this to a top 100 or 150.

He was honorable mention Big Ten last year, along with VE and IH (and above CE), and the only Purdue player on the all defensive team.

I feel like he is underrated because he isn't a volume shooter and isn't an NBA talent. But he does everything above average for his position on both ends of the floor. Then again, I don't think lists like this put much emphasis on defense.

I agree. It's rare that you have a starting 5 where all 5 starters could score 20 on a given night. There's also no one that's a true offensive liability as 4 of the 5 can hit the 3, so teams can't sag on Haas and dare you to shoot open 3 because if our guys are hitting, they'll hit 15 3's in a game.

DM is a really good college player and has made himself a pretty good defender. He showed something in the iu game last year that we hadn't seen before (creating his own shot off the dribble) but he was also on fire that day.
He'll have another steady year where he scores 10-12 game, hits 3s, plays good D, makes good passes, etc.

Don't tell me Mathias isn't an NBA talent!!! TIC

Both are fraud teams imo. Im sure they'll both be decent but not as good as their ranking implies. Especially Minnesota.
Minnesota is top 25 good. They lost nobody and added a guard that appears to be living up to his ranking (68th espn, 62 rivals). MSU and Minny are the only two teams in the B1G that scare me. Hopefully MSU struggles from youth and we get payback against Minny for last year.

Just not sold on Minnesota. They did lose one of their top reserves and a guy who was a heck of a defensive player in the post in Curry for the season. They played incredibly well early on but faded quite hard near the end when they actually played some teams with a pulse. They played Purdue (1), Whisky (2), Michigan (5), Northwestern (6), Iowa (8) only once last season. The only teams in the upper half of the standings they played twice was MSU and they split with the Spartans.

Not sold on Minnesota until they can prove it for an entire season.
