Proud of Purdue in their first round game. Any other year, Purdue teams of lesser caliber would have lost this game. Vermont were winners & a great team that played like it. They just kept coming.....at one time in the second half they were scoring on like 12 of 14 possessions. Still @ every turn Purdue had an answer scoring like a tourney team should 80 or better. This is how great teams do it answer every challenge and Vermont was a bunch better than I thought and played so well offensively and on D did not give us a lot of outside looks.

If Purdue can score like that the rest of the way they will be a tough out. Teams that put up 80 or more in the tourney are simply a tough to put down. Keep the offense going and Purdue can go a long way.....that is the key. Keep it up Boilers!

Boiler up and hammer down on Saturday!

VE and Biggie are getting the headlines, but that game showed how the 2 additions - CE and Spike - can be difference makers for this team. Their ability to 'mix things up' when an opponent tries to put Purdue in a box as a predictable team with no playmaking guards is a difference maker.

Let's keep it coming from all angles and make ISU defense flounder!

Great Post!!! I feel the same way. That was absolutely Vermont's best effort. They average six 3's per game. They hit 10 yesterday. And Lamb was truly great for them. Combine that with some tough luck rolls on some shots by Haas and some bad calls like the HORRIBLE goaltending call on Vincent in the 1st half and missed free throws down the stretch and you might assume the underdog pulled off the upset. But Purdue STILL won by double digits. This Boiler squad is built to win. They can slug their way through imperfections and flaws and has the potential to, when playing their best, come out any day of the week and absolutely run any team in the country right outta the gym. Can't wait for tomorrow. BOILER UP!!!

Will need to keep it coming. ISU travels so well and had a great crowd there last night. If more Boilers do not go, it will be like an away game for Purdue.

CE and Dakota need monster games on both sides. PJT needs to score 8+. ALL players for Purdue either needs to score or sit. In tourney games where your team needs 80+ to win sometimes, if your not scoring you are a big time liability. And Haas. well he needs to get going....he can score (once his gets into it) and most of all create fouls for the other team to wear them down.

Was it Vermont's "lucky" shooting or our defense? We have a tendency to allow career highs.

I would say Vermont executed well for the most part and took advantage of some of Purdue's weaknesses and defensive breakdowns. Thought the Boilers shored that up better in the second half.....CMP talked about that at the halftime break.

Last year's game.....although there were also some defensive breakdowns, I would suggest UALR had some "unexpected" shooting prowess.

prayer after prayer after prayer...like the virgin mary was riding the ball into the hoop for them. unreal the amount of garbage that found the bottom of the net in that game. Our problem last night was we were not communicating the switches or someone was not switching properly. Happened again to start the second half with pj and dakota and pj was pissed. I don't know exactly who was right/wrong but hopefully they sort it out before ISU because we gave up some unnecessary looks in the first half.

this team is amazingly efficient when we don't turn it over. I thought our good shooting covered a lot of issues yesterday. We will need a better all around game to beat ISU. We can do it though. I feel good about this team.

Tend to agree if Purdue can play a solid game. This will be a big challenge for the Boilers, as it's the type of team that can give them fits. However, on the bright side, have we seen a complete game from Purdue yet? Now's the time.

The Boilers will get some looks; they'll have to knock them down at a good rate.....and clean up the defensive glass. I think this game will come down to the last 5 minutes, so the FT line and limiting turnovers could likely be the difference.

Different teams that give each other match-up problems......bu whichever team executes better I expect them to prevail. At this point, you play well, or you go home.....and you still might get beat with a good game.

I do not think it was luck, nor would I characterize it as "lucky shooting"; I think VT executed well, I think they obviously do that all the time, thus their win streak. Our D is usually good outside.....it is the drives to the hoop we cannot handle and have had problems against and will against ISU.

With ISU guard play it is imperative CE stay out of foul trouble.

I think this is an underrated point about Spike and CE. I would also throw in Mathias b/c he took it at the rim twice and both times were buckets and Vincent as well for his drives. People scout us as just an inside out team for the most part. Vermont's defense was thrown off balance when the guards and wings were penetrating and looking for their shot in the paint.

We're going to have to have contributions from all of our guards Saturday, so hopefully that keeps up.
