Prospects updates

The article makes it seem like our best shots are with Williams, Jackson, and Tilmon.

Although according to this article Purdue didn't make Tilmon's final 5 : http://www.csnchicago.com/big-ten/illini-make-final-five-five-star-recruit-jeremiah-tilmon

Xavier Tillman's comments certainly make it seem like we have a shot with him.

Between Malik Williams, Jaren Jackson Jr., Xavier Tillman, Kyle Young, Jordan Goodwin, and Nojel Eastern I'd be satisfied if we got 2 and ecstatic if we got 3. I know most people on here are pretty pessimistic when it comes to recruiting, but is getting 3 of the above guys really that unrealistic? Thoughts?

The Tillmon that Purdue missed out on is Jeremiah Tillmon of La Lumiere. They are still in the running for Xavier Tillman.

I think we get one, and he's a big (not sure which one). I think we're somewhere around 30% to get two, which I honestly think is pretty good considering the competition. I do remember being 2nd on several great players a few years ago, so no, I'm not in love with making the final 3 and losing, but all things considered, it's the way the recruiting world spins.

Right, that's what I said. Xavier Tillman's comments sound like we have a good shot with him.

I'd really like to get 3 of the 6 I mentioned. I'd be kinda shocked if we struck out completely and didn't land any.

I'm not a paid user, but I noticed Brian has articles on Goodwin, Jackson and the Peach Jam.

Do any of them have any insight as to what Purdue's chances are with those players? Is there anything in them that the article in this post hasn't touched on?

Thanks for sure! It's good to see we do indeed have a "chance" with some of these guys, rather than "no way" on most of them. Who knows what will happen. I'd rather believe we will get a couple of them.

Since Purdue has only landed 2 top 40 kids in Painter's tenure.....I am not holding my breath.

I would be elated if we could get 1, let alone 2.....3 (crazy talk)? History shows me Painter is a good recruiter ...just not a great one.....so I say Painter might get 1 of these guys at best.

Marcius has to be the most recent, via LaLu. Calasan was recent as well, via JuCo.

They were both already in the U.S. when recruited by Purdue. So yes, it would be a plus if Painter talked to some of the other top international hoops prospects while there.

I don't think we've ever really had much success with the international player at Purdue. I remember David Lesmond back in the day, and he was meh. I think he went back overseas before graduating.

And don't get me started on MtD.......

I remember playing with ten dam at the co-Rec during his redshirt year, and thinking, "man, this guy can't be this bad". Yep, he was.

I would see him riding around campus on his mountain bike and it was quite the spectacle. I'm not sure how that bike withstood the punishment of a 7'2" 280+ lb dude on it.

Too bad he had no basketball skill whatsoever.

Lesmond game in with the reputation as a great shooter who might be a 6-8 wing. Never panned out. I suspect he couldn't play D.

As for temDam, yeah, where can you start?

I was at a party that he was at during his freshman year. His skill was drinking beer.
