Did this with my AP US History Kids the last few weeks, if I have any history nerds on here, you may find it interesting... if not, carry on. LOL. Trump & Biden are low on purpose due to recency bias with the teenagers, the rest was seeded by C-Spans Presidential Rankings, which rank Presidents off on 7 different traits.

March Madness Bracket

Nixon in the Elite 8? Dafuq going on in your classroom Kyle? Propagating the next gen of John Birch Society puppies?

Seriously though, Nixon? JFC that's absurd; nice to see his OG "war on drugs" still costing billions and hundreds of thousands of lives since '71. Well, unless you've got financial interests in for profit law enforcement, asset forfieture, prison industrial complex, Big Pharma, and on and on and on.

The kids vote brother. All democratic. I have a few kids that love Nixon for some reason and were persuading others.

I also haven't gotten to Nixon content wise, so they only know what they know.

Nice man, yeah I know (or can tell) you're a quality educator; was just giving you crap. Fun stuff, and enjoyed viewing their brackets. Thanks for sharing!

I'm curious, why was FDR not in the competition?

Obama over GW? They have a lot to learn.
I thought you were talking about the new NCAA president and his interview at the half of MSU game.
I cringed when the interviewer asked him about the immediate eligibility through the transfer portal and NIL.
He said they are intertwined and the NCAA is working on a common NIL contract so players didn’t get taken advantage of.
A contract before they commit? I thought the NIL deals were not to be used as a recruiting tool.

Yep my bad he got beat by teddy
It's absolutely no big deal and this is a basketball forum, but I don't see either Roosevelt in the first round. I'm don't have Jeopardy knowledge on Presidents, but it seems FDR has been considered one of our greatest.

Man, Nixon and Obama with the Cinderella runs. :D Obama over Washington isn't quite FDU over Purdue but it definitely has to be an upset. It's interesting to see TR topping his cousin FDR - the power of the moustache.

And, as a history buff, I remind those who want to get partisan, that the party of Lincoln switched platforms in the '30s and is now the Democrat Party.
🙄 That's a nice over-simplification, handy to paint one side as 'good' and the other 'bad'. It perfectly explains why, after the 1930s, Republican strongholds like California and Indiana did not suddenly become dominated by Democrats (or the strongly Democratic southern states become suddenly dominated by Republicans). Yes, the Republican progressives (which were already a minority in the Republican Party) started leaving the party quicker during FDRs Presidency (the last of them left in the 1960s) and the conservatives in the Democratic Party (which were already in the minority in the party) started leaving the party quicker (the last of them also left in the 1960s). All of this contributes to the perspective of the end of bipartisanship (in reality, progressive Democrats had to fight with conservative Democrats and reach across to progressive Republicans to achieve policy goals; vice-versa in the Republican Party).

I like that the guy who lasted six weeks as President beat out Buchanan, one of our worst Presidents. I'm assuming that Nixon may have benefitted from the information that Jefferson was a slaveholder? I see that most of the Founders did not do well in your students' brackets. Fun activity, though.

I am a simple man.

I don't know why you want to start with me, I ain't n-nothing far as I can see
And I'm worn out from working too hard, why don't you give me a break
I know that lately things ain't been so good, I'll make it up just like I told you I would
But I'm tired and I want to sit down, to ease this old backache
