While I agree that JO was great for Purdue this year, maybe their MVP, he is not a true point guard. Next year will be more about replacing his toughness, defense, and rebounding ability. He was not an outstanding ball handler or shooter and did not really get anyone else involved on offense. I am saying all this without looking at stats so he could have led the team in assists but I doubt it. If all we are worried about is bringing the ball up the floor, we can find someone to do that. What we need is someone quick enough to help break the press and drive and dish. Our shooters have to work too hard to get shots off. We need someone who can penetrate and kick it out because this rarely happened this year. That was the thing that I saw that made it hard for us to score at times. We have some very skilled players but don't really have anyone who can break his man down off the dribble and find the open guy. Lewis Jackon did it for us and it made it an easier game for everyone else. I hope CJ Walkercan be that guy, but that doesn't help us next year. Too bad Ronnie was a me first clown. Anyway, good season overall as they exceeded expectations and gave themselves something to build on.
