Wanted to try to get some numbers behind what they did with the workouts, so asked the players in Chicago who stuck out and what they were impressed by.
Also, mainly, wanted to get their opinions if they thought it'd actually matter -- did they have prior experience that told them they could actually get an indication what the season would be based on difficulty/success in workouts?
Didn't write about it too much in this one, but Kugler, for example, was part of a "gain weight" group that seemed to pay off. For the first time, he reached 300 pounds and yet he said he feels better than he ever has. He came to Purdue as a 245-pound tight end, and he said he has the same amount of body fat now as he did then. There also was a "fat loss" group, he said. Not sure who was all in that, but it'd seem like Roos could have been one of those guys sheerly based on the numbers he lost.
