Missing games ( whether it means riding the bench go the first half, sitting out a cupcake scrap, or even missing real games) has always seemed like a curious "punishment" to me. At first blush the team and coaching staff would seem to be penalized by the benching while the player has time off to do who knows what. Perhaps the punishment should be special ( extra) academic responsibilities, or other?
