You can’t leave points on the field. Zico drops a TD. Sparks drops a game changer pass. We had our top TE out. Our top LT out. One of our best defensive players out. Then our best DB only plays half the game. We are having the type of a season a rebuilding program has. Ups and downs. Certainly we could have had two more ups which would be awesome. But sometimes talent just prevails.

we scored on the possesion of Zico's dropped pass.

Didn't Nebraska have like 5 guys hurt during the game? Purdue may be thin at some positions, but with injuries part of the game, someone has to step up to win games.

Very good observation on your part and that is why we have a talent shortage. The depth to fill in behind injured players is not there. Quality recruiting can not get here soon enough.

I think your point is that the staff is doing a pretty good job of getting everything they can out of this team and I agree. It is no secret that we didn't have much depth to start the season and injuries are going to take a bigger toll on us than they are a program like Nebraska at this point in time. Hopefully in 2-3 more years we'll be in a position where we can plug a 2nd string guy in at a few spots each week and the drop off from the #1 won't be as big.

Pretty good job? They are doing a helluva job to even have us in these games? How quickly people forget how badly Burke screwed up this program. We've been dirt for years. And now we can actually compete. Brohm is the best thing to happen to Purdue football since Tiller.

Amen Brother!!!
The goal was 3-5 wins with injuries at a minimum and be competitive.... Hunt being out in the secondary was a killer for us...How soon folks that call themselves Purdue Fans forget just how horrible our football program was and the recruiting an absolute mess!!!
We even have Ass Hat`s that are questioning if JB and staff are positive additions for our program......Really? With talk like that...Recruits wont commit to Purdue and JB will most certainly will find greener pastures....... WTFUP and try making it to a game so you can actually see everything that is going on first hand.....

Sorry. I didn't spend a ton of time trying to choose the best superlative. I don't have any issues with "helluva job" either.

I will say that I was one of the few people on here that didn't think our path back to bowl eligibility was a 4-5 year road. I thought 2nd year with a good coach simply because I figured our schedule was too tough this year and it would take more than one off-season to fill some of the critical gaps on our roster. I did think our talent was better than most and that it had just been very poorly coached under Hazell and that Brohm would be able to coach that talent to better success if he could fill some gaps in the OL, WR, and DB positions in particular.

As it turns out, our schedule has been more manageable than I figured and Brohm was able to fill most of those gaps with at least a competent first-string player. Both of those things put us closer to bowl eligibility than I ever thought possible.

Your point is well made but I think you could have stopped after the first sentence.

You can say what you will about the qb's, the db's, the rb's, or any other position but the one position that we don't have...at all....is wide receivers! We don't have a playmaker at receiver. We don't have a guy that we can count on to catch the ball and at least get a first down. We don't have a deep ball threat. Right now, we don't even have a guy that is consistent enough to catch the ball 75% of the time it is thrown to them. This position is killing us. Don't blame the qb's (unless they throw interceptions), it is not their fault. We have a huge void of talent at the wr position. The offense is not going to get better until one of these guys steps up or we bring in some talent. Other teams have now figured out what our receivers can and can't do and they are forcing them into things they can't do. Expect the offense to be about we saw on Saturday until we can find some receivers.
Every other position group has pretty much overachieved. I don't blame the position coach for the lack of plays. It is because there are not true receivers in that group.
Stop blaming qb's and everyone else. Plain and simple....CJB has got to bring in some receiving talent for next year for Purdue to be successful!!!!

I think now is about the right for Hazell to come and also take credit for the roster that has given us the last 3 losses.
Easy Ossim......You might hurt some feeling by making that point...Let bygones be bygones....... Your post.....So true!!
