Pitt in the ACC challenge....yuk. Nm

I think it's a good matchup but if the organizers would ever go by the previous order of finish in conference play, the Boilers would have played Louisville:

I remember reading that Pitino didn't want to play Purdue anymore after they beat his Louisville team in '07-'08. I wonder if that played any kind of role in deciding each team's matchups.

Playing at Pittsburgh is still an opportunity for a quality win.

Agree with Nage. It's an opportunity to get a potentially big ACC road win. I'm not sure what Pitt's outlook is for the coming season but I think our veteran squad should be able to pull it off. I like it.

They are probably saying the same thing about us. It used to be more structured, but like everything else in sports, the event has turned into a cash grab and the UNCs/Dukes/Syracuses only play the "high profile" B10 programs. On paper, it is tough to win there and will be a good opportunity.

it will be a good away test for our team vs a team that stresses D and rebounding. On a side note, they are one of the schools going hard after C J Walker.

I have just become a Pitt fan. Older daughter got a full out of state tuition scholarship there (academics) and starts in August. I live in Indy and her mom in NYC. Pitt is convienently half way between.

IU was in the lead for months (almost a full tuition scholarship) until she did her Pitt campus tour. I let her make her own decision, but after she chose Pitt I thanked her for letting me preserve my full hatred for IU (and I don't have to pay them money!).

I liked your post, but the part that I liked the most was your willingness to put your daughter and her future far ahead of a sports agenda. That's being a greater parent than a greater hater.

I'm a Pitt fan too (wife is a Pitt grad). It's a great school, so your daughter made a good choice. Jaime Dixon is also one of my favorite coaches. His program is a little broke right now, but he'll get it fixed sooner rather than later.

My daughter is not a sports fan, though I tried to convert her over the years. I too was not a sports fan until I went to Purdue, so maybe she will "convert". She had lots to say about the sports scene in Pittsburgh after her campus tour, eagerly telling me things I of course already knew (all the major pro sports teams except BB, which Pitt is who everyone roots for there). I see a crack in the wall, in the coming year I will work to tear it down :)
