Pete Nance intro

Great pedigree and has flown under the radar. Would certainly fit the profile Painter has been targeting for long and athletic.

I noticed that when talking about the other programs he mentions how much he 'likes' and 'loves' their coaches. Purdue? - game strategy.
I'm not sure I have EVER heard a potential recruit talk about adjustments..and of course maybe he just said that and doesn't understand...I mean who ever heard of adjustments in man D? ;)

Purdue: “I think they have a really good game strategy. They adjust their offenses and defenses really well to other teams, so I really like that.”

Watched what videos I can find on him and he moves pretty well. Not an elite jumper but he was quick off his feet and could grow into his body a little more and can still finish at the rim. I liked what I saw and his brother already playing in the NBA shows what kind of potential he may have with a little more muscle on his frame. I would be very satisfied grabbing him in the 2018 class. Add him to a class of either Carmody, Phinisee or Hunter, Anderson or Jallow and I really like where we would be going.

reading his words, I believe the key to recruiting him will be what assistants Painter hires. he seemed to really like and was excited about Northwestern and Michigan, and talked more about their coaches than players. his comments about Purdue seemed kind of blah. Talking about how we adjust our offense and defense ?

Some people are wired differently...apparently IF he comes here, he is the thinking man's player and into the chess match of the game.

Whereas if he goes elsewhere, he likes the coach and the coach's mojo, personality and passion made him feel comfortable in the program and at home in the school.

I'd say the later works with a higher % of players, but I will not deny Painter's methods have sold enough guys that fit the system he likes to run lately.

I agree! MP's forte was having the players make both offensive and defensive adjustment at halftime. It is about winning the game and that is this kid's focus.

Clearly Pete has not spent enough time on this board to cure him of such delusions concerning Painter's coaching abilities.

I agree...at this time is is a heart versus brain...or rather emotion versus brain since the heart has no emotion or brain... :)

I really want Nance and thought he may sneak under the radar but with a ranking in the top 40 on Rivals and I think he is in the 60's on Scout I don't see that happening anymore. If we manage to get a true post 4 or 5 this year or in 18 I think he's a nice contrast to that style and we've got a lot of minutes opening up in 2018 with PJ, Mathias, Vince and Haas leaving.
