Must admit, we looked better than I expected. Defense created offense. Concerned about need for shooters, but more pull up 10-15 footers and nice lob passes inside worked well. Regardless of competition, it was an encouraging day.

agree, better than I thought especially, down 2 key players who should certainly play well. Some observations:
--To's still a prob but not as bad as game wore on.
--Seem to be playing tenacious D again. Gerald's team is not major talented, but well coached
--Kiesler was very encouraging and significantly ahead of Horrocks. I think we got a sleeper due to her injury. Can score and seems to know the game. She will play a lot.
--Wilson looked more saavy than she has for quite a while. The new pg--Murphy promised to really help this year and be good for future.
--Perry, if she stays healthy, is going to be a monster. Reminds me of that South Dakota forward, but with more versatility in scoring.
--The rest of the players all made good contributions mostly as role players and that never hurts if they truly buy in.
--But this team has been disappointing for a while now so it is hard to get too excited this early.
--Still not even close to a last place team.

Glad to hear Kiesler performed well. I'd heard she wasn't 100% in the KY-IN all star game I watched in Lexington, and my comments then about her lack of speed and inability to contain the bigs on the Indiana team contained that caveat. What was the front line like for Marion? Any size/quickness that could truly show if Kiesler's got what it takes to compete in the B1G as a freshman?

Edit: Just looked at the box score and it shows Marion's starting lineup a F, G, G, G, G....so I guess there wasn't much to challenge a 6'6" center in this game.
