....if they are not season-ticket holders. If they want to tailgate and party outside of the stadium, I get that, but if people really want to send the point home with Bobinski and Burke (go away, Morgan; stop holding on and holding the department back) that this head coach and staff will not be tolerated any longer, they should just stop buying tickets. If B&B want to keep Hazell around, they can mingle with "true" imaginary fans in an empty Ross-Ade stadium.

With our average attendance per game in the last few years, I think the fans have been doing that. To date, the athletic dept and university has just haven't cared. We will see if a new AD will make a difference.

I think being Homecoming against Iowa as the next home game makes a false sense of security given the state of attendance. There will probably be about 40-50k for that game, especially given Iowa does tend to travel well (not sure about this year considering they are 3-2 and could lose to Minny to get to 3-3). The PSU game will be a much clearer indication of how low the attendance will get as Purdue will likely lose to Illinois, to Iowa, and then Nebraska in the weeks prior. Of those, I am guessing only Illinois will be remotely close as Iowa always seems to want to pound Purdue and Nebraska will want a huge amount of revenge after their humiliating defeat last year. I am going to say the game against PSU will be around 18-25k of actual people in the stands...and frankly, I can't believe it would be that high if Hazell is still around.

If he is fired, I wouldn't be surprised to see a bump of 5-10k per game for people that would come out simply to support the players now that Hazell is gone.

No he's not.

I'll believe it when I see it. There isn't going to be thousands of new ticket sales for the Penn State game if the coach is fired the week before. There will be a few dozen whiny people who mistakenly felt like they actually made some sort of difference in forcing the decision that might do it if they don't have anything better going on, if they live close enough, if the weather is nice, if the game time fits into their family schedule, etc. At the end of the day, the football team is still going to be basically the same team it was before and if people weren't interested in going before, they aren't going to be interested in going after when the games are meaningless and the weather is worse.

I'm not talking about new ticket sales. I'm talking about the people that have purchased tickets already that have been so disengaged because of the leadership of DH2, they have refused to go. I know at least 20-30 personally that have season tickets that won't go for that fact alone. It isn't out of the realm of possibility to assume that a number of people would return to the stadium if Hazell is fired for the basic fact that they can't stand his leadership and want to see a game without him at the helm.

Barkley will run for over 200 yards vs us, and speaking of psu, they are playing 3rd string and walk-ons at LB , and still are able to make tackles and keep opponents like Minn. to 26 points in an OT game.

I could see actual attendance rise more significantly than paid attendance as I do believe there are probably many in your scenario. That said, I doubt that the athletic department believes that is a reason to get rid of him early like someone else suggested. In this scenario, they already have the money whether the people go or not.

I don't know what the point you're trying to make in the text of this post was and the picture makes me not want to care.

That's why you do it now, or after the Illinois game, before the record and the weather go downhill.
