@pboiler18 saw your squad offered and 8th grader. Ugh.

Hope kirby makes them relevant in the east as i am a casual fan since my cousin's daughter is a cheerleader, but yikes

Not a fan of recruiting middle schoolers. Look at the basketball side. That has definitely come back to bit multiple programs in the ass a lot of times.

A lot of things can change. The kid has a lot of developing to do. He could get hurt, then UGA would most likely rescind the offer and look bad for it.

As far as Kirby Smart, I don't think he fixes UGA's problem. The problem is....he's not Nick Saban, he's only worked for him. I think a lot of things are changing internally in the program....but Richt was already an A+ recruiter. Richt was already a decent offensive mind. And nothing changes as far as the fact that Nick Saban still coaches Alabama.

I think Richt was the perfect fit for UGA back when he was hired and became a victim of the expectations he set within the fan base. I think a lot of fans brush over 2012 where we were 2 yards and 1 fluke play away from beating Alabama, winning the SEC and likely cruising through the national title game, beating ND like a redheaded step child.

I think the fan base was ready for a change and that's fine....but I honestly don't see Kirby Smart being our coach in 5 years. I just see more of the same as it was with Richt. Florida is on the up. Tennessee is on the up. Only 1 team from the east can go to the SECCG...where you likely have to face guess who....Nick Saban....

Agree florida is on the up. Disagree on Tennessee, mainly due to the off the field issues.

As for Smart, it will be interesting to see what their offense does with Chaney. Not sure i would have made him the QB coach along with OC.

Cheaney was an interesting hire IMO. They liked him because of his flexibility and his experience with all types of schemes at all levels. I just don't think he's good enough to be successful at this high of a level anymore. He's been passed around the SEC already (UT, ARKY) with limited success. I think he'll have better talent at UGA than he did at either of those places but i'm not convinced a team without a DEEEEEEP OL, 2 stud RBs and a very good QB can run a pro style offense and be successful. They have the chance to have these things fall into place....but they can also fall into a trap of putting too much too early on the youngsters they have coming in and have it blow up in their faces.

I just see more of the same for UGA football. More 9-10 win seasons. Occasionally make it to the SECCG. Mostly lose to LSU or Alabama.

On UT...I definitely think they are getting better on the field....but the off field stuff will eventually hold them back. Jones shouldn't be there anymore....but that AD is full of scum that will let the HFBC hide behind them as long as he is on an upward track.
