Painter "to Missouri" Asst coaches

Question regarding Painter's near move to Missouri.

What year did that occur? Was it 2012? And if I remember right he really wanted more $ for asst. coaches. Who were our assistants the year before he nearly left?

In the limited exposure I get to Owens Brantley and Gary it seems they have done a great developing players and recruiting. Lusk, Ray, and Martin have all gone on to HC roles and I expect these guys will as well.

It wasn't the guys he had, it was the guys he lost because of low salaries. I remember when Rick Ray left to go south (can't remember where...Miss St maybe), he got double the salary he was getting at Purdue as an assistant. He had also had to fill Conzo and Lusk's spots. I'm guessing he got turned down by some of the assistants he wanted to fill those spots with because of salary and that pissed him off.

The overall issue was with his staff in general - obviously assistant coaches being one of the more important groups. But they were able to expand the staff to what other programs had at that point outside of coaches as well.

SW Mo is in Springfield. SEMO is in Cape Girardeau. Ray was at SWMO same place Cuonzo was before UT.

You're right. Ray was at Clemson then Miss St and finally SEMO where he currently is as the HC.
