I gave Swanigan a 20% chance on coming to PU. Success builds upon success. So Painter had a great opportunity to bring in other top recruits after landing the # 5 ranked Hummel class. He needed to build on landing those guys and their success even though they didnot go to the Final Four due to Robbie's injury. For the next 3-4 years Painter's recruiting was subpar. Other the AJ who is a late bloomer what top talent has he brought to PU? I don't think he is a good recruiter for top talent. In the 70s 80s and even until Big Dog in '94 top Indiana talent came to PU. Those days are gone with the rise of Izzo, Madda, Ryan, Coach K and others. He can't even recruit our legacies. I give him credit for this year's class the best since 07. So we've had 7 years of average to below talent. Hence the days of recruiting the 5 star Indiana guys are gone. We will make the NCCA and maybe Sweet Sixteen in future years under Painter / Burke but I doubt much more. The best will be building Butler model teams if he can do it. Atlanta/Jim
