Paint Spittin the Truth

I wasn't keeping track, but this is what I remember from watching the replays on what I consider disputed calls. There was a phantom call on Edey going for an offensive rebound. And one on Gillis guarding Barnhizer. Another one that could have been a no call, but I can see it being called. There was a drive by Bouie on Edey, where he complained, but the only contact was hen Bouie straight armed Edey. The one I thought Hummer alluded to was when Jones dribbled out of the double team. Martinelli had position, but he established it by having both feet out an extra foot from his shoulders. So it was a great call by the ref, but to NW's side, many refs would have said Jones touched it last. I think Collin's gameplan was to continue mugging Edey and hope the refs would try to even up the fouls. Maybe Matt would have had Colvin pushing Bouie out of position when he was coming down court without the ball, if the refs were playing Collin's game. Nah, we did that in my day, but today it wouldn't fly.

Listening to his presser right now. I'm always amazed at how honest he is. Today's is really good.

As opposed to Collins who said at least 4 times in his presser that Purdue shot 50 more free throws.

Also had to chuckle with Collins giving a few more backhand shots to the refs about Buie not going to the line either after Edey went for 20 (actually 17).....said that multiple times.

His strategy was to just continuously foul Edey and then he bitches about free throw differential??

Yes!! Collins' strategy was if any Purdue player came in the lane to attempt a shot, whack him. And he's disappointed in the free throw disparity?
Hey, maybe that was exactly the strategy: rough up the paint, there's no way the officials will allow a 46-8 free throw disparity. And then melt down when it actually happens. At least he knows he'll win in the court of public opinion, for whatever that's worth.

As others have stated - 36-8 when you net off 5/6 from Jones (on intentional fouls) in the last 29 seconds and 4/4 from Mason Gillis during Collins' bon voyage tour to the tunnel. It worked though because see I got sucked back into this thread.....haha.

Actually, the court of public opinion means a lot. Remember how the Texas coach cried about the foul shot disparity? The refs at the next Purdue game called a lot fewer fouls.

He needs to keep spittin too keep the refs from correcting ( in their minds) by giving Wisconsin the calls. Also, is going to the line number of shots or times put on the line, which is less?
