TV 9 Denver
I had the privilege to be around Otis and all the other teammates recruited from 1970-1972. There were plenty of stars on those teams, but he stood out above them all. Gary Danielson, Dave Butz, Gregg Bingham, Rich Ostriker, Tim Racke, Rick Sayers, Chuck Piebes, Gary Hrivnak, Steve Baumgartner, Bronco Kesar, Joe Tenkman and other classmates survive. I know that along with Otis, Darryl Stingley, Steve Nurrenbern, Doug Molls and probably others have gone before him but with every death we are all reminded of our own mortality and how short life really is. Although I was a walk-on, they treated me as one of their own and I count that as one of my life's blessings.
PS: As a graduate student at Michigan, I got to hang around a little with another All-America RB who followed Otis to Denver and with whom Otis and his family were great friends - Rob Lytle. Sadly, Rob died of a heart attack a few years ago.
