They can't give him the super max contract now, and The Lakers think they can sign them next year as a free agent and not give up anything. Larry didn't exactly leave Pritchard in a great spot.

Dont see how they sign him now. Start tanking and rebuild around Turner and future draft picks.

The All-NBA rule is a little ridiculous. No way Draymond Green deserved a spot above George. He is a great role player, but could never be the face of a franchise.

The All-NBA rule is a little rediculous. No way Draymond Green deserved a spot above George. He is a great role player, but could never be the face of a franchise.
Yeah - and it's idiot writers that decide it!

You have to trade him this summer, for the best package of picks and cheap young players you can get, which won't be much since he's viewed as a one year rental now.

Absolutely have to trade or get him signed before the year starts. Can not go into the season with him not signed. We should have delt him last year at the deadline. And started the rebuilding process with players and a top pick this draft would have brought.

Trade him to the Bucks for Jabari Parker! Let's face it, the Pacers have no leverage in any trade talk! Parker and Monroe cannot exist on the court at the same time! The Bucks went on a tear when Middleton returned and Parker was injured! George would fit in well with Gianni, Brogdon, Middleton and Monroe! And the Bucks have cap room to give him a nice salary! It would be a tremendous deal for the Bucks! And being realistic, the Pacers are not going to get a better offer from the Lakers or Celtics! The Bucks could throw in Henson and his bad contract or teletova or one of their other over priced bench players. The question is do the Pacers just give George away in a lopsided trade? Or do they watch him leave as a free agent for nothing?

They're better off letting him walk next summer than trading him for bad contracts.

I'm surprised the players union has not done something about this. It is a really odd way to decide who gets big money.

so is it dependent on making the first team? or the top 3 teams? Hayward Lillard and Walls also lost out. And Anthony Davis was selected as a center. Just think of the PF who would have been left off if Davis had been selected as a PF and the C who old have been added. There would be a lot more angry fans and players.

Making any of the three teams qualifies you for the Supermax contract

Because he is winning the Defensive Player of the Year.

i think they could wait and see if he makes one of the top 3 teams next year which would qualify him for the max deal.

Why would the Lakers give anything up for him when he will be playing there the following year anyway?

Boston may be in the market. George is better than Fultz and they just made the Eastern conference final. I think there would be appeal there. LA would need to off the number two pick to lock him up. Worth it if Boston gets in the mix trying to win a championship.

Bottom line is, if they have to part with him, they absolutely have to find a way to get some high value in return. Hopefully they could find a way to fall into a stupid luck trade like Boston's that got them the #1 pick this year.
