just curious, since the link is locked to only subscribers, would anybody be so kind as to provide what the metrics were. and how we stand with all Universities both public and private. I'm just curious where MIT, Northwestern, Chicago, Stanford, Notre Dame, Ivy league schools and Rose faired.

I'm not wanting to bad mouth Purdue, But rather I want to brag about Purdue as compared to those other schools. and how great an academic conference the BIG 10 actually is. While some people love football, I love Purdue's academics, and that's the sole reason I went there.

Well it's complicated to explain how the WSJ ranked schools, but I'll give it my best shot. Outcomes is 40% of the score and it includes salary graduates earn and amount of debt they take on. Resources is 30% and is mainly a proxy for the spending schools put into instruction and student services. Engagement is 20% and is based on student surveys of interactions with faculty. Environment is 10% and assess the diversity of the university community.

All that said, the Ivy League dominates the top 10. Here's where some of the schools rank that you asked about:

#2 MIT
#7 Stanford
#11 Northwestern
#14 U of Chicago
#32 Notre Dame

The top 30 schools are all private except UCLA (25) and Michigan (27)
