Great effort from the Boilers to have Team USA advance to the semi-finals. Carsen Edwards led the way with what must be a heavy heart as his hometown is part of the outer Houston metro area, which with along with the eastern Texas Gulf coast and much of Southeastern Texas is under deluge from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. Now a near stationary tropical storm, it is continuing to dump dozens of inches of rain expected to last into mid next week. This is sadly a flood becoming one of historical proportions.

Prayers and thoughts go out to all in getting to safety and dealing with the aftermath....and to all local, county, State, and federal workers and volunteers responding to the crisis.

If you'd like to help out financially, I am aware that the Red Cross in various Texas cities, including Houston, Austin, and San Antonio will gladly take any support.

Most importantly, please keep those in need in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you.

Because that entire region is mostly near sea level, when a hurricane hits, it can be devastating over a huge area. I was working there in the 90's when a huge storm came through. If a river in that area reaches just one foot above flood stage, if floods 100's of square miles. I spent a lot of time helping co-workers move valuables out of their homes or to the 2nd floor. I learned about the hurricane that wiped out Galveston in 1900, because everyone was talking about it. I started worrying about those folks days ago when the weather forecasts showed the storm was moving in their direction. The mayor of Houston is a moron for not seeing this coming. It's truly tragic.

Prayers go out to everyone affected.
