OT: NCAA allegations toward Pitino (and staff) - not Louisville

[Purdue Grad in Texas]

Some might find this an "interesting" read. NCAA has not charged Louisville, the institution, just staff, including Pitino, and he could face a show-cause penalty, depending upon how this shakes out, from my understanding.

Unbelievable. And Purdue gets nailed for an assistant storing an athletes stuff, sending flowers to a student because of a death in the family.
We won't go into the FK bull. Still can't figure out how the mom of PR getting a ride to the game from an MSU booster is an infraction. So all the recruits getting this money for the dancers makes them ineligible right? LOL.

I live in Louisville, and I can tell you the arrogance Pitino displays is sickening. Let's not forget a few short years ago the Karen Sipher incident in the restaurant. (Ethics-Blackmail-FBI)
The guy is a scumbag-and it's amazing that a community and fan-base would stand behind him like they do. Really shows that winning is everything-His program hired prostitutes for recruits-high school kids....let that sink in.
Flip the table and think about if this was a women's program, and your daughter went on a school visit and the coach brought in male strippers, and do god knows what to your daughter...
In retrospect-Kelvin Sampson (who also is a scumbag, but good coach) was shown the door and not sure if he ever got a head coaching job again for sending texts in a quiet period....think about that. Not defending his actions-but certainly different ends of the spectrum. The NCAA had the opp to hammer a guy but failed miserably.

Maybe that message should be sent by unaffiliated parties, but it shouldn't come from Painter. Painter doesn't need to get a reputation as a coach who meddles with committed players.

I thought it was an "unwritten" rule among the conference coaches (at least it used to be) that once a recruit verbaled, other coaches would back off.....and I assume that would be extended outside the conference as well......perhaps not.

And... everyone remembers the Jamaal Maloire recruitment. Committed to Keady and Purdue, then called Pitino to let him know. Next thing Keady knows is that he signed with L'ville.

I think Magloir (sp) went to Kentucky. Keady also lost a big one to Wisconsin. Would have been on the BIG Dog team. Probably cost Keady a final four. What was that centers name?

I view football as different than basketball in that respect. It seems that basketball coaches have much greater respect for verbal commitments.

That said, if there is anyone who I think would go after a committed prospect, I believe that it's Slick Rick. If Painter were to make an exception and go after a committed recruit, I would have the least objection to going after a Louisville commitment.

No, I actually didn't. But I really have not followed FB recruiting very closely in quite some time.....going back to Tiller's last few years. Although I have gone to more FB games (including several post-season ones) since graduation, candidly, I follow the BB program much more closely.

Rashard Griffith went to Wisky, under some very public shady recruiting tactics by Stu Johnson who was there at the time. If he came here, Keady would have hung a national championship banner. who knows how one recruit here or there can change a program forever. Same could be said about T Zeller coming here to go with JJ, Hummel and Moore.

You are correct. Pitino was coaching at UK when he got Magloir.

Stu Jackson was coaching Wisky when the big Dog was at Purdue. I don't remember the details, but Jackson supposedly used dirty recruiting tactics to get Rashard Griffith.
