OT: Merry Christmas

Pretty low key here this weekend. Christmas next weekend with family all here. Hope everyone has a safe, warm and happy weekend. Make those memories to carry with you forever.
Now, if Santa could just get those damn reindeer to perfect that 2-4-2 zone all would be right with the world!!!

May everyone have a calm, safe Christmas break with family joy. It has dumped snow here in Boise today and the roads are a mess. I'm off with the state so it's a veg. night at home. Luckily the bowl game here was last night and not tonight,. The blue turf was like blue ice last night as it was. Wait, Blue Ice? It's time for a second drink. Cheers 2U.

Merry Christmas to all!!!

To negatwits and CMP apologists ...

To "Loosiers," Coach "Whizzo" haters, etc. who nonetheless respect their efforts and take special glee when we beat them, because they are worthy ..

To we who feel blessed that we have a high-character, fun team to watch every night, even if we don't win every night ...

Blessings to all. Merry Christmas.

Things will be busy I imagine for most if not all of us over the next few days, so wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

And safe travels to those making journeys!
May you all have a Merry Christmas and may your New Year be the best yet. Low key..... the kids and grand kids are coming the 26th. Grandson just committed to play baseball after graduation.

Glad you put OT before Merry Christmas. I'm sure the OT cops would have you in the middle of an investigation if you had not:)

Merry Christmas on the wonderful Eve of meaning.

Perhaps it was an accident and perhaps I'm one of the few that may have caught something not intended...or intended? I noticed "Eve" and was wondering if the "second" Eve was being referenced?

No, I was just calling today, Christmas Eve. I do know a bit of the 2nd Eve but I'm not Catholic so it's just being familiar to the term for me . Doesn't it have reference to Adam and Eve?

I'm impressed! That doesn't happen by accident as even Catholics many times are unaware of that comparison. I'm always intrigued by politics and religion as many times they give the basis for some thoughts...whether someone is interested or not in those subjects. Not to turn this into a theological discussion and the various associations with the bible from a literal to figuratively understanding that all sides of Christian theology lean at one time or another. Nor to assert the following is the truth or correct understanding, nor the mistruth, but an explanation for those that compare Eve to Mary. Here goes for "an" explanation...

Prior to sinning Eve was named "woman" just like Jesus reference his mother Mary. Once "woman" sinned she became "Eve". Many are unaware of the name changing that historically references a "significant" event in the bible, but a little reading will prove this in the bible for any that care. There are many reference in Luke and such to Mary. I'm not going into Marian Doctrine and such, but for any that want a better understanding of what is a mystery to many it can be researched for clarification.

In the beggining it was that the "family" of God consisted of Adam and Eve, but sin was experienced. Then a new family of God with free will happened. Mary full of grace was to be the "Ark" of the new covenant. Mary was everything Eve was not. Anyway, not trying to get this into anything other than a "little" background that might explain some people's thoughts. Had I not had a little background I wouldn't have noticed the word Eve. Still, I'm impressed that not being a Catholic you have a little background in this area. FWIW, I was raised in the Methodist Church until exposure to Catholicism at Purdue. Have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks, I love getting details on stuff like that. Seems like our society is losing these important things of the past. A couple years ago when I was feeling 'out of touch" I said everyday I wanted to learn something new that I didn't know before. I consider this my day's fact now. Thanks again. Merry Christmas 2U2.

Well, for those that consider themselves Christian I get a kick out of the song, "Mary did you know?", a very popular song during Christmas? As Christian doctrine would agree, the first miracle by Jesus was at the request by Mary. It was not as though she didn't know of His abilities or that He could refuse. You see as the second person of the Trinity He was fully aware of the Ten Commandments of honoring His mother and although He stated His time had not yet come, He obliged and honored His mother. Another part that is missed is the reference to serving the best wine last. This tells you how drunk the normal parties would be as the best wine was usually served first, before everyone was drunk. ;) Mary knew...how could she not?

I appreciate trying to learn. I have a hard time just doing nothing. I'm usually doing something. I can't read like I wish and hope that someday with retirement that I can find a few books...maybe at a beach? You may have noticed over time I have an interest in education? Educational background, experiences, politics and religion define a lot of who we are and help understand others better. There just isn't enough hours to know all I wish to learn and life is but a fleeting moment in time to balance so many things...

Have you ever heard Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant? It has a sub-name called Mary's Song. It's from Mary's view. I like the song since it has a lot of feeling in it from a different perspective. I'm not a real big Christian music fan but Grant and Lauren Daigle have some good stuff for me.

What a bunch of crap.

You weren't very clear
A bunch of crap that people believe that or a bunch of crap that what I wrote some people don't believe? That is two different perspectives.
Slidde01, feel free to express yourself. You will not offend me with anything you say and I have no desire to turn this basketball forum into a theogical debate. I just don't know what you intended to say...and hope my explanations to some understandings didn't upset you. FWIW , I have a copy of Jefferson'St bible in four languages. You may not know, but Jefferson believed everything...except the miracles. Again, please express yourself with more clarity because what I wrote some really do believe.

Just finished watching A Muppet Family Christmas. Slidde01, you should watch it too. It is easily found on YouTube. Once again, Merry Christmas to all the Boilermaker family and their friends.
