Sadly, Gene Cernan died today at age 82. I know that this is the basketball board but we now have lost the first and last people to walk on the moon with his death and Neil Armstrong's earlier passing . They both were Purdue graduates.

Wire service:
Former astronaut Gene Cernan, the last of only a dozen men to walk on the moon who returned to Earth with a message of "peace and hope for all mankind," has died. He was 82.

RIP Mr. Cernan.

Rest In Peace indeed. What brave individuals, I wish more from the astronaut programs would choose public service like John Glenn did. Can you imagine the Mercury 7 astronauts all wanting to be the FIRST person shoved into a missile and launched into space. Complete badssses!

Back with Neil again. Boilers way up!

I met him at a Purdue function in WL. He was a very nice and very funny guy. May he rest in peace.
